It is selling 25k per week
Software sales make everyone cry
3rd parties in general are skipping it, even worse than the Wii
The best third party game in sales is less than a half million and it wasn't profitable
Retailers are starting to unnofficially cutting the price
One big retailer in UK is no longer stocking it

Yes, it is a failure.

Anyone calling a Wii U a failure with less than a year of release and with it's current drought of games is just spiteful and needs to grow up. Sure I am going to be picking up an X1 during launch but that doesn't mean I abandon all gaming on the Wii U as there are definitely a lot of promising titles releasing on the system (Bayo2 and 101 among my 1st day pick ups). It also has not had a fully dedicated Mario title (sorry NSMBWiiU don't count), which Mario 3D world will be addressing. Also the Wii U is still $150-$200 cheaper than my X1 with launch games that would probably be discounted to mass market prices when X1 comes out.

Gasp!!!! I did not expect that from you. So totally unpredictable.

It's not a failure, but it will never be a success, Not to many people are interested in a tablet for a controller

It will end up around the same as the vita

So say you as the Vita drops  below the PSP again. The Wii U also overtook the Vita in North America and Japan this week after showing three weeks of stable sales growth. I expect it to taper off a little after Pikmin until we get a bit further into Nintendo's summer/ fall lineup. The Wii U will probably be between the PS3 and the rapidly tapering 360 by Christmas. The question is where will the other systems be.

No, the vita slightly outsold the wii u in japan last week

I was very excited with the E3 2011 Wii U presentation. Then in 2012 was like ooookkkk. And now very dissapointed.

Looks like the sales are similar to my sentiment: worse as time passes. Also, I think Nintendo is making big misteps like putting DKC as their big november game instead of MK8, or building excuses for their pathetic planification of HD development. Iwata mentioned during E3 2011 investor's meeting that they were ready for HD development and it will not take a lot of time and resources. 2 years later we see a 2D Mario that looks just ok, DLC for the summer and launch window games coming basically one year later.

Wii U is clearly a failure at this point.

This isn't news to me and doesn't change the fact that calling something a failure is generally used as an all-around term, as I proved to Talal with his athlete example (unless you time-bound it or change the scope, ie launch was a failure).

I have looked up actual definitions of the word "Failure".

http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/failure

A lack of success. Falling short.

The Wii U is currently both of these. There has been very little to no success and it has fallen way, way short of the targets set for it. Nintendo can still turn things around, but as of right now the Wii U is a failure.

Common sense. Sometimes it works.

Common sense would be not trying to argue against the very definition of the word - "Failure".

A lack of success. Falling short.

Failing. Failure. There is no difference here, as there has been no success. The Wii U has been a failure since launch because it hasnt hit a single target that Nintendo set for it.

It's called a colloquialism. We speak words to convey a meaning, and sometimes the formal definitions just don't fit that reality.

I'm pretty sure you're aware that the usage of a word can often be more powerful than its definition:

Come on, Carl. Common sense, use it. The Wii U may be failing as a console, but that doesn't make it a failure as a person.

Ahahaha, only you Rol.
You are awesome.
