yup and thats the point of his game. i remember him saying that open world games nowdays are all about HUGE spaces, but he wants to make the experience of an open world game in the smallest open world. he wants to have the experience and content be as meaningfull as possible. i remember that was his goal with the witness

5 GB for that though? I can understand 5 GB for the next GTA but this? I wanna know what makes his game need 5 GB if it really runs on 5 GB.

Maybe the game is coded in Java.

This reminds me of the time before the iPad launch and people were complaining that it had little ram. The people that actually had hands on with the device on the other hand all agreed that it did what it was advertised to do.

Devs aren't complaining. They've all been happy with what they've been allowed to work with (except one Indie dev that didn't say that he was unhappy but that you can never have enough). If devs aren't worried, why the hell should we be? If the PS4 does as advertised, why the hell should we care what's under the hood? I don't care if there's nothing but a magic paperclip and some fancy string in the box, as long as it does what I paid for and lasts.

4 ≈ One

So is it 4.5 GB or 5.5 GB?

I keep seeing two different things.

4.5 guarenteed, but up to 5.5 if devs really need it (bit confusing, why dont they just say 5.5?? idk either..)

The Witness is amazing both aesthetically and technically (both visually and with audio). Blow and hist team are doing some really amazing stuff with that game. You guys should check out the blog http://the-witness.net/news/, and they are still improving it.

Yeah, sometimes it annoys me when open world games have vast expanses of pointless space that could have been condensed.  Bigger isn't always better.

i know. all my girlfriends keep telling me that

lol didn't know your right hand could talk.

I dont get it ;__;

You need to be a programmer to understand

Long story short: for some of us programmers Java is not really the best programming language. Some people love it, some people hate it. So it's normal to see programmers making fun of Java
