Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Passes 1 Million Units in Japan in Roughly the same time Frame the PS3 did

Considering the ps3 was much more expensive than what the Wii U is right now, this isn't good at all. And even for the ps3 it was considered a failure.

I think the Wii U will be fine. Congrats on the sales, Nintendo!

And don't worry, Microsoft/Sony fans. You'll have your chance to be "doomed" soon enough....

What are the game release schedule for the PS4 and Xbox-one for its first six months?

List for this year: 23 coming for either console (10 exclusives each/ 13 multiplats). Most of them won't be on Wii U.

This is so misleading. The WiiU had a bigger launch, the PS3 only sold like 80k, meaning PS3 sold more excluding launch week.

If those games do indeed come out at those time and the PS4 and One sell 2 million at the end of this year and 200k each month from Jan to march, then they will be at 4.5 million at the start of April.

Edit: wow i can't do math. So that would be 2.6 million >_<

The only reason why it made to 1 million in about the same timeframe is because Wii-U hade a much better launch. It sold more in it's first week than the PS3 did in the first five. It outsold the PS3 by a good margin the next two weeks and after that it fell hard. A few weeks later and the PS3 was selling double what Wii-U was selling in the same time frame.

The PS3 was having sub 10k weeks at this point in its life as well.

A few weeks maybe but from July 2007 it didn't go below 10k a week for the rest of the year. By the end of the year the Wii-U will probably have sold better in Japan than the PS3 did in it's full year and with some big titles releasing next year it will do better aswell. After that though, i think Wii-U will pretty much be done.

>implying Nintendo is just gonna stop announcing games all of a sudden

No but all of the main franchises will have been released. Unless they release a add-on that creates a hype like the Wii motion controls did or release (multiple) new franchises that rival the likes of Pokemon Wii-U will has a good chance of slowly dying out after 2-3 years. And iwth stiff competition from the PS4 when comparing to the PS3, it's going to fall behind fast.

you just can't convince people with mindsets like you otherwise.

Well it's just my personal prediction, i don't have to convince anyone and you don't have to agree with me at all. Im only saying that 2-3 years in the PS3 started pretty well and kept that momentum for years. Unless Nintendo comes up with some impressive new things by that time all major games will have been released for the Wii-U and once the momentum of those game die out that would cause it to fall behind.

If anything that could change this course for the Wii-U would pop up i will be the first to change my mind and admit that i was wrong, but there are no signs of anything like that.

yeah, well, i don't think so (;

Maybe you could give a reason why you don't think so? I would appreciate you giving atleast an argument.

I don't get why people are using this to say that the wiiU is doing well. This suggests the opposite. The ps3 was almost dead until 2008.

On the plus side, somehow its gotten people to admit the Vita has games!

that's not good..... the ps3 was almost dead world wide until it dropped to 399

However, WiiU's issue hasn't really been price. Its been content. PS3 had plenty of content, just too damn expensive at first.
