The Wii U has finally passed 1 million units sold in Japan, in roughly the same amount of time it took the PS3 to do so. The media create sales charts confirmed that today. 

The PS3 was a bit more expensive than the Wii U, but it wasn’t $599 like it was in the US. Japanese retailers refused to sell the system at the original price tag Sony announced, so Sony cut the price in Japan pre-launch.

It’s good the Wii U’s install base is growing. Hopefully big fall titles can really push sales.

that's not good..... the ps3 was almost dead world wide until it dropped to 399

Yeah, it is doing better in Japan than most other territories. Meh

Considering they are a Japanese company that number sounds really low.  

That's actually pretty good for a console without much compelling exclusive software.

And the Ps3 was a failure at that stage remember....

How long will it take for Wii U to surpass X360 in Japan?

Yeah. It's not a huge achievement. But, it could surge to 2mil before the year is out so it's not all bad.

because of third party support.... sony first party.... and cutting prices.... Wii U is already cheap... and has almost no third party support in the horizon

Everyone knows Wii U is a failure at this point.
