I've tried, but it never works out for me. But that could be because I kind of suck at Mario Kart. (At times.)

I did it once by accident. Wasn't even really sure what I did.



 

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

yes it's a pretty legitimate tactic, I have managed to pull it off like 2 times y mario kart wii but's it's pretty hard

TBH the Blue Shell ruins Mario Kart for me. I bought Mario Kart Wii (my first MK game since Double Dash) and I immediately turned it off once a blue shell ruined my first place spot. It's so ridiculous. I actually started to play it again a week ago and what do you know, the blue shell ruins me again.

This is why I prefer Diddy Kong racing lol.

You should try Sonic & Sega All Stars Racing Transformed! Should be a demo for it on every system it's on.

As for myself, I have never actually dodged a Blue Shell in Mario Kart 7 using a mushroom. I know it's possible, but the opportunity has never turned up. (Usually I just use it to go through grass/mud  asap to leave room for another item.) I've dodged plenty using the boosters on the road though.



lol, it probably wont actually since the odds are so slim. This has only just happened to me for the first time and I've been playing MK7 for over 200 hours.

Woah really? How do you dodge with the boosters? o_O

you just have to wait for it to actually appear above your head, then the instant it stops going forward it does a lil 360 loop in the air and slams down, the instant this loop animation starts the shells impact point is picked so boost to avoid it, not before tho, or it will just follow you boosting then hammer you into the ground.

In a way the Blue Shell still did it's job though.
Still, suiciding is sometimes the best option, especially if you're on course like SNES Rainbow Road where the Blue Shell is likely to knock you off anyway.
