Forums - Microsoft - When Will People Get Bored Of Halo?

Underlined: See thats the thing: Halo has a ever expanding lore that fans such as myself can't get enough of. If MS were just to drop Halo support....that would be devestating. Some gamers may tolerate change at the expense of older IPs being thrown into the trash.....but I personally want my Halo to keep evolving and expanding.

Furthermore, why Halo? Halo is the flagship IP. Might as well as when will gamers get bored of Mario or Gran Turismo. Why single out Halo?

I'm not singling out Halo, the thought just kinda popped in my head, I already said I was a huge Halo fan so obviously I have nothing against the series.

It's the only xbox exclusive I like besides Forza.

So I was a huge Halo fan at the start of this gen, but at this point I'm just exausted with the series.  Think about all the Halo games we've gotten, Halo 1, 2, 3, Wars (I'd like Wars 2 :)), ODST, REACH, Combat Evolved Anniversairy, and 4.  Now we have this Halo game for tablets coming out and the new Halo for the X1.  Usually when I get a Halo game I beat it on Normal, then beat it again on Legendary, then play co-op with some friends, just because it was so fun for me, but with Halo 4 I beat it once on Normal, did a couple online matches and never touched it after.  I'm not saying Halo 4 was bad, I think I'm just bored of the series, I mean it even got so bad that Bungie seperated from Halo and started making a new franchise.  It must be getting really old if the creators are willing to walk away from a garunteed multi-million dollar franchise...The thing I like about Sony is for most of their IPs they change things up, like for Naughty Dog, they made Crash for the PS1, Jak for the PS2, Uncharted for the PS3, then went on to The Last of Us.  Sucker Punch went from Spyro to Sly Cooper and then to inFamous, continuing to refresh with new IPs.  So what do you guys think, can you just keep playing Halo for another generation or are you bored of it?

That was Insomniac.

The new Halo's, no offense to anyone who likes them, are shit. I don't understand how it sells at all. You can see the decline of the series starting after Halo 3.

Halo: Combat Evolved- Great story, innovative gameplay.

Halo 2- Had great online multiplayer and single handily saved a console.

Halo 3- Introduced Forge, improved the multiplayer.

Halo 3:ODST- Introduced firefight, other than that it was lackluster and forgettable.

Halo Wars- Bland strategy game

Halo Reach: Boring and tedious multiplayer, pretty bland story, gameplay is the same, barely any innovations.

Halo 4- Multiplayer too similar to Call of Duty, Story is forgettable, gameplay is the same, barely any innovations.

In my eyes, Halo is already dying. It'll just take time for people to realize, but when it does, MS is going to be in huge trouble. Forza is already dying itself, if it's two big exclusives go, the Xbox One will pretty much just be a multiplat machine.

You seem very cynical, and therefore this shouldn't be taken seriously.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Unfortunately, I think that people already are getting bored with it. The general opinion seems to be that Halo 4's multiplayer is a flop. And since about June, Halo 4 has basically fallen off the charts. It's legs have been amputated, despite the fact that there isn't another Halo game coming out this fall.

As for me, I don't think I'll ever get bored of Halo. I love CE, 2, 3, ODST, Reach, and 4.

People do not just get bored of Halo as people do not just get bored of Mario. Only way is to not release any or release a very bad Halo.

The Halo crowd will get bored of Halo if it keeps going the Call of Duty route.

I mean, Halo 4 is below FIFA and NBA. Its below 2 shooters from 2011.

Well to be fair there isn't one definition of a Halo fanbase.

You have the lore fans and you have the MP fans, which to be fair, are responsible for the bulk of Halo sales.

Well thats kinda my point. The people who fell in love with Halo multiplayer will get bored of the series if it gets more and more like CoD. The CoD crowd wont migrate to Halo, because Halo isnt easy to master. Theyre trying to pander to a market that wont go to them in any meaningful way.

Granted, Halo 4 is selling extremely well, but the fact that its sitting below FIFA, NBA and 2 shooters from 2011 on the Xbox activity charts speaks volumes. They need to go back to more Halo 3-like multiplayer. They need to bring back Firefight.

Will ppl ever get bored of mario?
Cod?
Final fantasy?
Sport games?
Racing games?
Those franchises have alot more games than halo.

When they get bored of Mario.

I was a bit worried about it back when ODST came out. Despite most people on the internet giving it tons of credit for being one of the best Halo campaigns, I just wasn't feeling it.

Since then it's been back on track though.
Halo Wars was the best console RTS I've ever played.
Halo Reach had a great campaign, but deviated a bit from the book Fall of Reach, which was cannon before, so that kinda bugged me, but other than that it was excellent. Multiplayer was top notch. Played it for ages, and the custom games were the best you can get in any game period.
Halo 4 had what was in my opinion the best campaign in a shooter. Ever. It was visually stunning. Master Chief returned! It added some cool toys. The multiplayer was a bit of a miss, mostly because there weren't enough maps at launch for each game mode, and the custom game side was lacking the customization options of Reach. Considering it was 343's first go at it though, I think they did a bang up job, and I'm super excited about their future games in the series.

I'm not getting tired of Halo anytime soon
