I don't care about which side people are on, but I'm worried about the number of people who pick sides in this for reasons that seemingly don't have to do with truth and justice. The American justice system is a lot more blind (blind as in neutral) than the general public.

 

I waited for the trial to end before having an opinion. Now considering all the facts of the case, I don't see a reason to disagree with the jury's decision. It was an unfortunate event, nothing more.

lol all that guy was doing was filiming someone else getting arrested. 

He shouldn't even been handcuffed. Just told to stop filiming and delete the video and perhaps fined or warned.

I don't think so, regarding the race-baiting. Much as we like to try to claim that we're in some sort of post-racial society, Florida clearly has a fair bit of racial bias in play when it comes to "justifiable homicide," (as the flow of statistics regarding Stand Your Ground have demonstrated).

I still don't think it was justifiable, though like many cases that should have gone the other way, it was mis-handled by the prosecution.

Nor do i appreciate the attempt at character assassination, here. I'd claim that was beneath *you*, but...

It's certainly not a post-racial society since we have millions upon millions of people in the West who have set it as their number one goal in life to criticize the behaviour of white people, using double standards on how they judge misdeeds of white people versus minorities.

Our society is currently going through this bizarrely pathological reaction towards its past sins, and it won't be satisfied until the white race is completely humiliated and erased.

Dude, you have no idea what you're talking about. Trayvon was 6 ft and 160 lbs. He wasn't basically an adult.  He was taller and potentially stronger than Zimmerman.

He got Zimmerman down to the ground MMA style and was pounding the shit out of him. You don't know the circumstances. He was bloodied and his head was getting bashed in. Zimmerman probably did try to fight back and looking at the results it wasn't going in his favor. So the gun may have been a last resort as opposed to going unconcious, being severely injured, or dying.

Everybody was filming!  Didn't watch the video again but I remember it.  If I'm not mistaken, the cops were trying to raid a house and he kept yelling things at them.

As a civilian neighbourhood watch, who already called the cops for suspicious activity, he had absolutely no business being there and following Treyvon. Its not self defense that I have an issue with, but decisioning that lead to the point of him having to use a gun as self defense.

Youre seeing it as a case of self defense while I see it as very poor judgement that led to having to use a gun for self defense.

Without a gun by his side, does Zimmerman play cowboy and go after Trayvon? Or does he do what he was instructed and supposed to do and wait for cops?
