Forums - Nintendo - Is Ubisoft lying about ZombiU?

Slimebeast said:
The game didn't live past its first shipment. It's already been in the bargain bins for a long time.

500,000 copies at $25 gives $12.5 million in revenue for a game that probably cost $15 mill + $5-10 mill in marketing.

I believe it lost Ubisoft at least $10 million.

You must not actually leave the house much--I have yet to see Zombi U for anything but full price, and it's never in a bargain bin.  You're saying things you want to be true which are based on nothing.

idk where you live, but here in eu/germany the game is permanently reduced to 30€, it says that even in the nintendo eshop ...

if you search online and dont go into a store you can get it even for 25€ or less ...

It's still full price for the US.

ouch that sucks :(

the only sad thing is that the wiiu sells so bad in the eu that you can get the wiiu basic for 199€ or the premium with nintendoland for 230€ here in europe,
and many 3rd party titles are really cheap now (20-35€).

usually eu gets on the short end and have to pay ~$50+ more than the us or jp users.

Why would Ubisoft lie about this?

They're absolutely lying. ZombiU was a low budget game with many flaws and glitches, so it didn't have much developtime = less costs (not more than 1,5 years). Also, this game sold almost 500.000 and in no thinkable universe a half a million sales is bad for a new franchise. Red Steel also did about 600/700k and they came with a sequel. Just like the rest of the third party developers, they're trying to come up with excuses not to develop for Wii U.

I feel like Nintendo fans are in for a tough time.

None of these things mean it was low budget or that it had a short development time. Nearly every major game has some awful bugs that make it  into the game despite the gigantic teams and 2 year development times. There's not a lot coorelation there.

I think the denial that the software is flopping is funny though.

In Aus it is also discounted, down to $36AUD (which is about $30USD now I guess) down from $90AUD launch price ($100USD at the time)

It also doesnt help when the main game sales site review says "This game suffers from so many bugs, the developers say they are currently working on patches.....we'll see. Graphics aren't great, story and gameplay is ok. Not the best launch title, Mario, Monster Hunter etc much better."

Temp price.  Look how low that stock level is.  That won't stay that price for long or will go back to full price with the next shipment.

and? that doesnt even mean anything, even if what you say is true its still not full price. matter of fact a quick check from 10 different retailers online and none of them are selling at full price. so i dont buy that its a stock issue
