Forums - Nintendo - Shigeru Miyamoto Discusses What Went Wrong With the Wii U and His Hopes For the future

Hey, as long as we get a steady release of games, and not have to wait over half a year for another game to come out, its ok. just turn the Wii U into what the 3DS is now :D

its already turning out like that anyway, 2014 looks like the year of Wii U!!

Err... im posting from my vita. It has a solid browser with youtube support.

Games are the way to go. But i dont think the wiiu will become a must have until nexy year. Buying one this christmas might be a good investment if nintendo slashes the price. They cant slack anymore once the ps4 is out.

I turn on my WiiU just for Internet Browser. I browse simultaneously when a game is running or a movie playing. I think what myamoto means is ppl are not buying it for that purpose and it hurts sales.

I use my 3DS web browser. I would use my wii U's as well.

Isn't 3ds's browser pretty slow. Idk, from what I recall, when I tried it, it just seemed so much slower then my wiiU browser.

Predictions for LT console sales:

PS4: 120M

XB1: 70M

WiiU: 14M

3DS: 60M

Vita: 13M

Why say is it enough? It will be overkill with Mario World and Donkey Kong alone. The Wii U isn't the front-runner of this generation but it will have some great games.

If Nintendo chooses a realistic Zelda(has been compromised because game hasn't really entered development) and makes it look awesome, MK8 sells awesome, and Smash 4 does well, the U should have an install base of at least 20M.

We keep questioning Wii U and we only output negatives. Have you forgotten already that the first HD Mario Kart will exist in April, and possibly sporting some of the best cartoon/ cell shaded graphics in existence? Wii U is no Wii but the games that Nintendo makes should pave the way for better third party support. That is how all third parties become profitable. Can you name me one Third party game, on a nintendo console/handheld, that outsold Nintendo's top software? Yeah... there kinda isn't one. So just wait a couple of years and see how it goes. If Wii U is still doing miserable then, you can call me out.

Wow. So buy a Wii U to browse the internet and play Pikmin 3...Hurry up and please buy a Wii U (giggles). This dude is tripping. I don't know why he's laughing either. Nintendo has some serious issues atm.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

It's best for him to be in light spirits, feeling down and serious just because the console isn't doing to well would be stupid. Glad to see that he finally gets how to develop for the hardware better than before, and looks like the finalization of the hardware itself was in fact delayed to who knows when. Probably until it launched, that surely would have caused delays.

I think the wii u will resuscitate with Pikmin 3.

For a second there I thought this was about to be like Iwata's 'Please Understand' speeches.

If Nintendo had launched alongside Microsoft and Sony the stumble and delays would have probably been fatal, or at least exhausted much of the Wii U's early life (and early life is important for Nintendo hardware. Moreso than with Microsoft or Sony).

As is? At this point last generation the PS3 still required a second job, and the 360 wanted three fourths of a circle drawn in the blood, also known as the Red Ring of Death. This generation is still very young. There are many twists and turns yet to come.
