The PS2 was clearly a generation ahead of ps1/n64, to say it belongs in the same generation is just ridiculous







The fact that current gen games are being released that arguably look better than some wii U exclusives means obviously not a big leap over the ps3/360.

My reasoning is not wrong, because that's how I see a true next gen console. I have every right to have an opinion.

Since when did next gen mean  a different controller?

Next gen will always be about power. Stop making excuses.

The fact people still actually care whether the internet says the system is next gen or not baffles me.

So take it literally as merely a sequence of systems being released. The wii U is obviously 8th Gen in such a case, but if that doesn't fit someones expectations of what Next gen is/should be,than let them say its not next gen. We are not arguing science here, we are talking about a non defined piece of gaming terminology.

Now everyone get a life.

Right now we can't say what generation the Wii U is. If Nintendo decide to release something similar to the PS4 and X1 in 4 years, chances are we will group the Wii U with the 7th gen. If it picks up, and they can stay in sync with Sony and MS, then it will be seen as 8th gen.

Ok let my break it down, from what I understand the WiiU is a 7th generation console [with ps3/xbox360] because of the Nintendo Wii being a whole generation behide. So the Wii was consider a gen behide because it wasnt graphicly on par to the ps3/xbox 360, that makes it the less powerful console, and which [by fanboy logic] makes it a generation behide...Why would you consider a new console release by a company in the same generation as the previous one? doesn't make since but lets get back on subject.

So By this logic I come to the conclusion that the ps4 will also be 7th generation. because..

Well to start I could do back the the PS1 and Nintendo 64 era but the reduce confusion lets just start at ps2 era.
Out of the PS2,Gamecube, and Xbox. The PS2 was obviously consider the less power console. which by [fanboy logic] makes it a generation behind. So instead of being in 6th generation its in 5th gen, which makes the PS3 in 6th generation and now the upcoming PS4 in the 7th generation category.Like this. (only including Sony/micosoft/Nintendo)

5th Generation:PS1 ,PS2

6th Generation: Xbox,Gamecube,Wii,Ps3

7th Generation: Xbox 360, WiiU, PS4.

Make since? not really? well thats because its behide a completely bised logic! Lets just agree to stop with the fanboyistic logic and go by the fact that a console release after the previous one is the next generation line of consoles. So by time. if a new console comes out, what ever generation is currently going on it fits in there. I guess if you consider the ouya a gaming console, yes its in 8 generation.

So yea, I could have done more research but if theres something im missing. tell me. :D

Anyone that says the wiiu is 7th gen is wrong. First off, saying something is "7th gen" really doesn't mean much, as there is no clear divide besides release date. Based on power, I think the wiiu is halfway between the strength of PS3 and PS4. So we will dub it 7.5th gen.

liking a video game or not is a matter of opinion. the generation said videogame belongs to is absolute and thus independent from opinions.

Mario 3d world, mario kart 8, X, bayonetta 2. sonic lw also looks great with no rough edges.
