Oh I see. I was operating on outdated information since E3 (or rumors rather). Well ... was the previous build transferred to next gen instead of building it from the ground up? But looking at the video, it is still relatively impressive, and it is an early title for these consoles. I suppose we'll be closer to what you are describing in future installments. At this stage it does look a cut above what current gen has produced.

They basically ported the PS3 version into a DirectX 11 engine sometime in 2011 and started making it for PS4/One. Also, I don't think this is an early PS4/One title. I expect it to release in 2015. If not that, then it's a Q4 2014 release in Japan, at the earlist.

The graphics don't look a huge leap above what current gen can do, IMO. A PS3/360 could achieve those visuals if it's rendering at 480p and at 30 frames per second.

What the hell? XV's graphics were easily one of the most impressive out of the E3 lineup.

Its scale was impressive.

The dipping FPS and low quality lighting and textures were not.

I was underwhelmed by Final Fantasy XIII. Due to that adjustment of expectations, I'd say I'm just about whelmed.

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

Yeah, I was enthralled by the gameplay demo they released. Don't see how you can watch that and say it doesn't look next generation.

What are you talking about? The game looked beautiful and much better looking than game I've seen or played from this generation.

Not for me. As far as I'm concerned, games like Crysis 3, Halo 4, The Last of Us, Gears of War 3, Resident Evil 5, and many others, all had visuals that were on par with what I saw from FFXV. There was no major next-gen leap in the visuals of FFXV, especially when compared to other next-gen exclusive games at the show.

LOL! Really? Seriously, bro? The polygon count and textures of FFXV were not that different from Devil May Cry 4, a game released in Q1 2008.

My eye has a hard enough time distinguishing graphics between these generations. The graphics are improved, but only just. The only real "wow, purdy" next gen games I've seen are Ryse and Forza 5, both of which are or appear to be on rails. Not exactly a fair comparison.

You  need to watch the gameplay walthrough of The Division, by Ubi Soft. That game is open world and yet had crazy detailed textures for the environments.

Then you really need to play those games again, but you're maxing out your rose-tinted glasses (RE5 didn't even look very good at all!).

I'm not going to break screenshot comparisons and devolve the thread, because we're clearly on the opposite ends and I don't see I'd be able to convince even with side by side comparisons.

I'm done with Final Fantasy. They don't want to go back to their good ways. (FF4-10) The graphics are good yeah, but what else is new? Final Fantasy use to entertain in all categories, now it is just a eye candy game that literally plays itself with generic characters that I could care less about. What happened to Final Fantasy?

Only "plays with itself" describes XII... it's a damn good game otherwise. It's so sexy... that it plays with itself.

Many people that were making said IV-X have left, which is what happened to FF in short... times, they are a-changin. To search for all the stuff that made XIII so... khm.. "unique" would mean sticking around here for hours. IIRC, the same team that was making SaGa games made XII, which would explain its difference from anything that came before.

The textures for the environemnts in Resi 5 are on par with FFXV. That's what I mean by FFXV not looking like a next-gen exclusive game. It should at least be cross-gen, like Assassin's Creed IV, Watch Dogs, and MGSV.

The fact you can clearly see the difference between the graphical quality of FMVs and gameplay, just goes to show that FFXV hasn't got the "playable CGI" next-gen visuals that Agni's Philosophy promised.

This is the trailer off screen at the sony presser, it actually looks alot better then those crappy compressed youtube videos, although they MAY have upped the res to like 4k for the presentation but idk, definitely a better representation of what the game will look like running in real time in front of you're eyes then those youtube videos tho

Edit: for some reason it wont allow fullscreen, heres the link to the youtube page http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-yE4WEyFlK0
