Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Game Development Requires Twice The Human Resources Than Before

No shit, Sherlock. Welcome to 2006 (again).

How could they not know? Are they that isolated from the rest of the world?

You can pick your reasons because there are plenty to go around; The Wii U and the software to go with it, was not ready when it was released. The Wii U was released about 8-12 months early and people like me who purchased it at launch for the family (and 3rd party developers who released games on t to date) have paid for Nintendos mistakes.

No wonder third parties have been so reluctant to support it. Where are they going to find an extra two people?

In this job environment, there have to be a few people willing to go as low as developing for a Nintendo console.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Ya, it's not like Nintendo could have looked at years worth of hd development and learn from it, lol

Let me get this straight. The past two generations have seen such hilarous failures as the 360's RRoD issues, the 3DS spinning its wheels for six months, the Vita imploding on contact with the market, and the Wii U having a faceplant out of the gate.

Is it any wonder that I do not buy any console in its first year on the market?

well at least there not givening us rushed games with glitchy HD graphics, im sure if that was the case it would make since to be disapointed at nintendo

Have they been asleep to PS360 these last 6 years? Shit everyone and their dog knew it took a lot more time and resource to make a game for the HD consoles than for Wii U.

That is pathetic from Nintendo, truly pathetic. It made a console and doesn't know the development demands for it?

It's almost like the success of the Wii was an accident.

I learned the hard way- The wii U was the 2nd console I ever bought and the 1st console purchased at launch- I think you are correct re not buying a console at launch- I can t imagine a scenario in which I would do so again

Just realized this, but comparing Nintendo's Wii U HD growing pains to Sony's and Microsoft's is a little unfair. This is clearly going to be a generation defined by open world games, which have notably higher production costs than normal HD games. The trailer for X confirmed it was open world, and while we haven't heard anything definite about the Zelda game, open world would make sense there, too.

Nintendo is going through two generations worth of growing pains in one console. Ouch.
