Everything's up, there's no mistery about it. The market is up as a whole, no specific reasons.

Everything else had a reason. PS3 had Gundam, PSV and PSP had Toukiden, 3DS had Labyrinth, but what did the Wii U have? Especially having such a large increase, percentage wise.

The Wii U has nothing new this week, at all. So advertising must be the only reason, which is encouraging for the rest of the world.

What are the reasons for Wii and 360's increases?

Oh come on, you're better than this. That could easily be statistical noise as its like 100 units difference. The Wii U increasing 2k could also be, but it's less likely.

Yes, everything increased, and that's reflected in the Wii U. But the increase amount leads me to believe there's more to it.

Also, I expect 24k for Vita next week. 6k Wii U.

Dead Space did well for itself.

It sold alright, I wouldnt say it did "well" though, especially Dead Space 3.

Dead Space did 3+ millon. DS2 did 2.5+. DS3 is just over 1.2 million. Certainly better than just alright.

Most other titles in this genre are smaller indie titles like Slender and Amenesia.

Why is there no Dead Space 4 in development?

I don't see how that's relevant, but I'll answer anyway.

Dead Space is having two problems: 1. Identity criss and 2. Franchise fatigue from frequent releases.

Dead Space isn't dead as a franchise and it will be brought back just like Mirror's Edge was. Taking a break doesn't mean it was an awful failure that will be buried forever. Getting away from the 1-2 year sequels is a good thing for the industry, imo. We're too dependent on blockbusters.

Looks like the market as a whole has recovered a bit from last weeks' lows. The Wii U being up for no specific reason really says it all.

The 3DS is trailing behind its last YTD, but the release schedule of the first half of the year hasn't been all that great and the best is yet to come in this year. No signs to worry.

The PSV is the only system that is up YTD, but it's pretty much solely because of this year's price cut. No signs of the system taking off anytime soon, but on the other hand a long term presence in the market seems to be secured at this point (judging from the release schedule in BaldrSkies's thread).

Big releases don't have much of an effect on PS3 hardware sales anymore, so it's highly improbable that the system will pass the Wii in lifetime sales or even come close.

Wii U was always destined to struggle, because developing for Nintendo home consoles is beneath Japanese third parties. A fact that got further emphasized by Kingdom Hearts 3 going to the X1, but not the Wii U. Nintendo is the only console manufacturer left that still sees Japan as a tier 1 market, but that doesn't mean one bit to anyone.

I think MGS and Final Fantasy and Kingdoms Heart are the only games witch will boost Ps3

i think jojo can do it.

It's a new IP or not if it's not is it the first one on ps3.

If it's a new IP i think it's possible if it's not but it's the first game in PS3 i think 99% it will increase ps3 sale.

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

Its not a new ip. There was an old nes game i think anyways this will be the first game in like 20 years and it will be exclusive for the ps3.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

When is Gundam coming to Vita? Its a shame it couldn't launch the same time as the ps3 version.

Assuming it comes out this summer alongside God Eater 2, I forsee good vita numbers for the rest of the summer in japan.

Fixed.

I can see you're very excited about this increase.  But perhaps it's better waiting until next week to see what's going on with Wii-U.  There may well be an increase due to advertising; or it could be statistical noise mixed in with the whole market increasing somewhat for the week.

Something to keep an eye on at least.

I'm really not that excited about the increase. But everyone seemed to ignore it, and if it maintains the level because of the advertising it bodes well.

As you say, the coming weeks will be more important than the one week, and that goes for the other systems too.

Wii and 360 also increased by good percentages. Wii U apparently had 2 games release this week but they both did under 4100 considering Wii U HW went up by about 1600 I think it is safe to say the game releases help push some HW maybe 800 each. It is all small numbers anyways, but I would not say it was advertising alone.

Tecmo Koei updated the shipment totals for Toukiden to 300k+, impressive for a PSP/Vita game. Hopefully developers will drop any future PSP versions so the prospect of piracy is not introduced.

Nice vita, hope it doesnt drop back too fast.

Yay, the Vita's doing pretty good. If only they did the price drop in the U.S.
