However lets look at it like this.

In July I can download Halo 3 and AC 2. If I stop paying for live I keep those games.

If I stop paying for plus tomorrow I am locked out of everything.

Now you can talk about how much value you have gotten since 2010, but again we are comparing a service from 3 years ago to a service that hasn't even started yet. And on top of that we don't know if Microsoft is keeping this service on the Xbox One. This could be a trial run for something bigger or it could just be a thank you to players before a new generation and we never see this again.


I'll agree with you that (at least at this point) it isn't as clear-cut as some would lead one to believe.

If I were to make a counter argument, it would be that H3 and AC2 can be picked up for almost nothing 2nd hand.


But again. Sony's first free offering was Wipeout HD. It was a 20 dollar downloadable title. Microsoft is giving you 2 retail release games for free that you get to keep.

If Microsoft keeps this service on the Xbox One regardless if it stays the same or it gets added to there will be no value in what Sony does unless they change to match Microsoft in letting you keep the games.

Its funny how xbox fans are reacting. They get two old games and thinks its awesome. PS+ people have this benefit over a year. God knows how they would have reacted if they got this before ps+ give away offer. Personally I prefer disk versions over digital versions. Would buy (and have bought) disk versions of games that are 4-5 times than the digital versions. Peace.

It's apparently good because you get to play games MONTHS after they are released?

No physical copy either.

If you are playing catch up it's ok i suppose.

Wow, that's a really weak argument.  For the family share plan (if it even worked like some believed), 10 people could share the same game.  The devs saw no extra money from that.  Of course, Sony had a similar setup, but only with 5 people.  What happened?  Devs demanded it be lowered.  If you don't think they same thing would have happened with family share, you're dreaming.

As for PS Plus, do you honestly think Sony is just stealing the dev's game code and giving them to Plus members?  Lol, if you do.  No, Sony is giving them a piece of the pie.  They either give them money based on how many times their games are downloaded or, and this is how I think it's done, they give each dev/publisher a certain amount of every subscriber's payment.  So, say a dev says it's cool to put their game on Plus, Sony probably gives them ~$.25 for every member of Plus.  And they probably also give like ~$.05 for every game that receives a Plus discount.  This means that Sony keeps about half of the money from the sub fee (or ~$25M for every 1M Plus subscribers), while a dev can get ~$250K for every 1M Plus subscribers if they offer their game for free, and ~$50K if they offer there game at a discount.  So, it's a win for Sony, the dev/publisher, and the gamer.

its still selective.  ijs microsoft could have thrown the same bones to devs.  and if you actually think about all that you wrote.  why was the drm important for this so work.  developers would have also been compensated on every used  game sell (why people had a problem with gamestop paying developers is beyond me).  that means that the developers could have recieved totat compensation on both physical & digital media

also the fiasco that was sony setup was people just downloading their games on their friends console and away they went if im not mistaken.  like i said i like plus for what its worth and i said ms shouldve have done something like it long before plus even came out.

I'm a person that enjoys multiplayer and gaming with friends. Looking at the selections, I'm sure this service is good for people who enjoy single player experiences since the majority of those games are just single player.

I don't like DD or not owning games, but at that price, I must say that I am very tempted... some games there I'd like to play, but they don't have much of a replay value...
I wonder for how much longer will Sony push this on the PS3? I wouldn't want to miss the boat, as I don't have time to play so damn much atm...

This is how digital is done. Being able to rent 64 games for the price of less than one game per year is just amazing.

PS+ from my perspective is a great service that introduces you to a lot of new genres and franchises which you would otherwise have never experienced. There are many games I got from PS+ that I wouldn't have thought of buying, but having played them now I'm a fan of those franchises that I may end up buying when the sequel hits. There really is nothing like this service. I hope Sony continues on building upon this once PS4 gets a bit older and there is a good back catalog of titles as well as Gaikai to offer a lot of PS1,2,3 games.

From my perspetive the games are more of a value to me than the extra services that live offers beyond ps+ , however I totally see the value in live as well.

No but the games they will offer will be free forever! 

I can play this game 100 years in the future, good luck with your psn games after you stop paying.

the argument is why are service is more valuble not who loses what if they stop paying. I really don't think you want to try making the argument Xbox Live is better than ps+ when you stop paying. LOL

Like ps+ I'm sure it's better when you pay for it. 

I plan on continuing to pay for plus and keep getting more and more games, and hopefully you'll keep getting games beyond the launch of the xbox one
