Starcraft 2 Has “Major Design Changes” in the Pipeline
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/starcraft-2-has-major-design-changes-in-the-pipeline/
Just recently Blizzard released their remastered version of the original Starcraft, now they have turned their attention to the sequel in the franchise saying that their is “Major Design Changes” to the games multiplayer mode.

And StarCraft: Remastered is superior to StarCraft 2 in my eyes.

I like both SCII and the Remaster of 1, but I find that the frist remaster has it's own issues, like SCV's that do nothing when when starting a match (SCII fixed this as a QoL fix to make them do something as soon as they are created), or the unit path finding AI, which still seems to be stuck in the past, meaning I'm having to spend more time clicking in the same area to get a unit to find it's way. Then of course there is the original perspective view of the game, where I cannot place a bunker because part of it's grid clashes with either a tree or the minerals, in SCII the grid was more tight and defined.

Like I said, I like both, but I don't consider the remaster to being superior to II in every way.

The X morph defense videos really made my jaw drop.

IKR?. I'd really love to see them take a crack at making a fully destructible RTS game. Would blow my mind to see an RTS where you can blow cliffs apart, destroy entire cities piece by piece and watch nukes level the whole thing.

Age of Empires Definitive Edition set for October, AoE 2 and 3 remasters are coming too
http://www.pcgamer.com/age-of-empires-definitive-edition-set-for-october-aoe-2-and-3-remasters-are-coming-too/
Microsoft announced a little earlier today that Age of Empires 4 is in development, but that's not the only big news on the AoE front. It also revealed that Age of Empires: Definitive Edition, with 4K graphics, a remastered soundtrack, and improved gameplay, will be released on October 19. Even better: Age of Empires 2 and 3 will be getting the same treatment.

>>I don't get the reason to give AoE II this treatment after the HD remaster. In any case, I doubt very much that I'll get them.

I don't get why they are giving Age of Empires 2 that treatment. It's absolutely fantastic as it is right now.
Still, if they improve even upon that, I won't complain...

And as long as all the games end up Steam, I'll buy it.

Microsoft announced the release date for the upcoming Halo Wars 2 expansion at Gamescom, yesterday. Awakening the Nightmare will let you join the war between the Banished and the crew UNSC Spirit of Fire again on September 26.

Surprised Halo Wars 2 is getting such support.
Still waiting on that Steam Release though.

They pretty much kept all the quirks from the original game. Which I am fine with... And is something that eSports wanted to keep as it can punish players and make gameplay more interesting.

StarCraft 1 also had many advantages over StarCraft 2.

For instance...
If a unit is hidden under a Tree/Object or has a height advantage, then the enemy unit gets punished with decreased hit accuracy, same kind of thing doesn't occur in StarCraft 2, which decreases strategy in my eyes.

It's also a more balanced game overall after a couple decades worth of patches and balance changes.

And if we get into the single player... In StarCraft 2, Blizzard made all the Zerg voice acting sound like as if they were Terrans... And many Story elements were retconned. - I have to admit I was never a fan of the "Hybrid" Arc in SC2.

Overwatch Season 6 changes outlined in new Blizzard video update
http://www.pcgamer.com/overwatch-season-6-changes-outlined-in-new-blizzard-video/
Overwatch's sixth competitive season will take place across two months rather than three, Jeff Kaplan has announced via a new dev update. The reason for the change is simple: player engagement tended to dwindle towards the end of the three month competitive season, as the earlier period was believed to be more consequential and fun. This pattern was detected, so says Kaplan, through both player feedback and internal stats.

Alright lads, I've a question.

For those of you who have played GTA V, which AA settings have you used and which do you think do a better job over the others?.

I'm asking because I've honestly never bothered trying Nvidia's MFAA, but I have tried MSAA mixed with TXAA via GTA V's settings. 2X MSAA doesn't really seem to eliminate jaggies, while 4X ends up being rather taxing at 1440p. FXAA doesn't really seem to do much, but I also haven't tried going with DSR.

Which do you think offers a good balance to performance and visual elimination of jaggies?.

I also noticed that MFAA isn't really supported in many games, though Nvidia's site does contain a list of those that do support the AA setting.

I don't play GTA 5. Or any GTA for that matter. (Still sooking over the glory days of GTA 1+2 top down perspective. haha)

But. MSAA > MFAA > TXAA > FXAA in general.

MSAA or Multisample anti-aliasing is spatial antialiasing. And is usually the preffered approach if you care about quality.

MFAA or Multi-Frame Anti-Aliasing will take a temporal and spatial approach over multiple frames and samples, which means it's lighter on hardware than MSAA. It is a good compromise between image quality and performance.

TXAA or Temporal Anti-Aliasing uses a combination of MSAA, Post-Processing and filtering to achieve it's anti-aliasing.

FXAA or Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing is basically a post processing filtering, essentially just blurring edges.

Depending on your hardware... Enable DSR or Dynamic Super Resolution for nVidia or Virtual Super Resolution for AMD.
It is hardware intensive.
I personally run games like Overwatch, whack 4xSMAA and downscale from 4k to 1440P for an amazingly sharp image. And Overwatch is a light enough game to get away with that on a peasant Radeon RX 580 and still maintain 60fps.

It doesn't have to be 4k though. Even 1800P (3200x1800) could be achievable and bring some gains.

I used to stick with 2x MSAA on GTA V, but that didn't really do the job as much and I still ended up with more jaggies. I tried 2x MSAA+TXAA, but that ended up blurring the image just a bit and took some performance (yay Nvidia tech). I recently tried MFAA+2x MSAA and that seems to have worked rather well.

I haven't tried DSR yet since I'm at 1440p, but I'll give it a try later with 15% smoothing and set it to 1.5x resolution.

The one big gripe I have with games like GTA V, is that there seems to be some sort of small sphere around the player character. This ends up drawing in higher resolution shadows and in some cases textures as well. No matter how far you set the extended distance scaling and shadow scaling to max, you still see shadows 1-2 feet of you being drawn in and it honestly irks me to no end.

I can already see FFXV PC version having the same issue when it comes to LoD. I really hope that next gen consoles beef things up, because I'm quite tired of seeing nice looking games, but very short render distances, where everything a mile away looks like some PS2 mess of low res textures.
