Call of Duty: WWII is coming in November, and before it does there will beta tests: August 25-28 on the PlayStation 4, and then September 1-4 on the PS4 and Xbox One. Of a beta test on the PC, however, there's been no word.

EA's Patrick Soderlund thinks Mass Effect: Andromeda criticism was a little unfair
http://www.pcgamer.com/eas-patrick-soderlund-thinks-mass-effect-andromeda-criticism-was-a-little-unfair/
Electronic Arts finally confirmed earlier this week that Mass Effect: Andromedawill not be getting any single-player DLC or new story content. Following the May decision to put the franchise on ice, and the more recent elimination of Andromeda developer BioWare Montreal, it appeared to mark a sad end to a series that not so long ago was one of the biggest and most successful that EA had ever produced.
But gone is not forgotten, and EA executive vice president Patrick Soderlund told Gamereactor UK that he expects it to come back—and that he doesn't think Andromeda really deserved all the criticism it got.

PES 2018 demo is coming at the end of August
http://www.pcgamer.com/pes-2018-demo-is-coming-at-the-end-of-august/
Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 "is finally a football sim worthy of the PC," we said in our June hands-on preview. "[It] easily matches its PS4 and Xbox One counterparts, and may yet surpass them once the modding community sets to work." That's awfully high praise, but come August 30 you won't have to take our word for it—you'll be able to just play the demo instead.

Ark: Survival Evolved is killing hundreds of official servers on August 29
http://www.pcgamer.com/ark-survival-evolved-is-killing-hundreds-of-official-servers-on-august-29/
Ark: Survival Evolved is inching ever closer to leaving Early Access, and in preparation of its launch, hundreds of official servers are going extinct. These low-population servers, which make up about 33% of all existing servers, are being wiped on August 29, so if you've got pet dinos or other belongings you don't want to lose, it's time to pack them up and stuff them (and your character) into an Obelisk or Tek Transmitter so you can retrieve them from a different server later.

GTA Online's big Smuggler's Run update adds new customisable aircraft and more next week
http://www.pcgamer.com/gta-onlines-big-smugglers-run-update-adds-customisable-planes-and-more-next-week/
GTA Online's next huge update is Smuggler's Run, and it's coming to the game on 29 August. The title is a nod to Rockstar's classic series (well, I say classic. I never played it and was always more of a Bully man, but I hear it's good), and is air-focused, adding new ways to make money by taking cargo across the skies of Los Santos.

Tomb Raider The Dagger Of Xian, remake of TR2 in Unreal Engine 4, will get a demo on September 1st

"This project was given the green light from Crystal Dynamics (as long as it’s not monetized) and we are pretty sure that Square Enix will honor this."

About bloody time fans of the old TR get the game that actually is TR, instead of this new crap...even if it's unofficial remake.

Hmmn, for some reason DSR doesn't want to play nice with GTA V. I checked the 4x mark and the resolution doesn't show up in the games settings, nor does it when you check all the other boxes either. I tried frame scaling, though I've heard that hampers performance more than DSR. I haven't noticed that much of a dip, though post processing fx and grass as well as extended scale distance seem to be heavy hitters.

I didn't see much if any difference running MSAA x2 with TXAA or MSAA x2 with MFAA (via Nvidia cp). Honestly, it would have been nice if R* added SMAA instead or even TAA (which can be countered via DSR anyway).

Step right up come on in, feel the buzz in your veins, I'm like an chemical electrical right into your brain and I'm the one who killed the Radio, soon you'll all see

HTC could be getting out of the VR business
http://www.pcgamer.com/htc-could-be-getting-out-of-the-vr-business/
HTC, makers of the Vive VR headset, might be getting out of the VR business according to a report from Bloomberg. After a poor 2016, where it posted losses of $513 million for the full fiscal year, the company have acquired a strategic adviser, resulting in a number of possible outcomes, including selling the Vive side of the business.

The Vive has carved a good install base despite facing the better known Oculus Rift and, in case of a potential sale, there should be a few companies interested in them. Let's hope that the consumers aren't affected by this situation.

Assassin’s Creed and Final Fantasy XV Beneficial Crossover
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/assassins-creed-and-final-fantasy-xv-beneficial-crossover/
Ubisoft and Square Enix have both teamed up for a mutually beneficial surprise crossover promotion, called Assassin’s Festival.
Both Ubisoft and Square Enix have done something very intelligent marketing wise, injecting Assassin’s Creed into the Final Fantasy universe has smashed opened a door for in-game advertisement that could flourish for both games. This is not a sell out by Square Enix either as both sides of this deal mutually benefit, Final Fantasy players will see a bunch of new content that will re-engage players and Ubisoft has made an interesting partnership that allows for an in-game promotion that will hype Origins even more.

Dual Universe 'pre-alpha' will be released to backers at the end of September
http://www.pcgamer.com/dual-universe-pre-alpha-will-be-released-to-backers-at-the-end-of-september/
Dual Universe is a sci-fi MMO with serious ambitions: "A 3D, 'single-shard' MMO where everyone plays on the same server across millions of planets," as we described it in our September 2016 preview. Those worlds can be modified or built upon, claimed, shared, fought over, or destroyed, while large-scale space stations and ships can be built from scratch and individual object behavior is modifiable by way of Lua scripting. It sounds like a too-good-to-be-true blend of EVE Online and Minecraft, and especially in light of the hype-and-letdown ride that was No Man's Sky, you'd be forgiven for having your doubts.

Watch a raccoon ponder the nature of holes in the Donut County reveal trailer

I admitted back in July that I didn't know anything about Donut County, one of the new games on the slate at What Remains of Edith Finch publisher Annapurna Interactive. The reveal trailer released today helps improve that situation somewhat: Now I can say that it is a game about a hole, that may or may not involve a talking raccoon.

A pair of Destiny 2 trailers introduce Cayde-6 and Hawthorne
http://www.pcgamer.com/a-pair-of-destiny-2-trailers-introduce-cayde-6-and-hawthorne/
One of the challenges facing Bungie as it prepares to launch Destiny 2 is that it's built upon an extensive, sometimes convoluted lore that some PC gamers—myself included—know absolutely nothing about. (I still think of the two central characters as Blue Man and Browncoat, and if there are more than two central characters, well, that just reinforces my point.) To help close that knowledge gap, the studio has put out a pair of brief videos introducing Cayde-6 and Hawthorne, and it's a good bet that more are on the way.

In an alternate timeline, we all got to play Half-Life 3 years ago. But in this one, we haven’t even been able finish the saga of Half-Life 2. Today, however, we can get a bit of closure, since ex-Valve scribe Marc Laidlaw has posted his version of Half-Life 2: Episode 3’s story in the form of gender-swapped fan fiction.

Final Fantasy 15 director says nude mods are up to the 'moral sense' of the community
http://www.pcgamer.com/final-fantasy-15-director-says-nude-mods-are-up-to-the-moral-sense-of-the-community/
Nude mods—they're what make PC gaming great. Not everyone likes them, of course: Dead or Alive 5: Last Round game director Yohei Shimbori asked PC gamers to "play our game in a good and moral manner," and warned that if any naughty bits were exposed, it could prevent future DoA releases on the PC. (You can probably guess how that worked out.) But Final Fantasy 15 direct Hajime Tabata told PCGamesN that Square Enix is going to leave the matter up to the discretion of the community.

>>Yeah, trust the community. What can go wrong?...

Final Fantasy 15 will have Steam Workshop support and will run on older PCs
http://www.pcgamer.com/final-fantasy-15-will-have-steam-workshop-support-and-will-run-on-older-pcs/
Final Fantasy 15 is bringing its brotrip to PC, so we paid Hajime Tabata, the game director, a visit at Gamescom, finding out a bit more about modding, optimisation, and how the port is going to get PC players interested in the venerable series.

>>Well, after the previous article, I think we all took this one for granted.

http://www.pcgamer.com/become-queen-in-reigns-her-majesty-due-out-this-year/
Out of all the games I’ve slapped on my phone during moments of boredom, Reigns is the one that’s stayed installed the longest, keeping me swiping left and right as I try to manage my needy kingdom. Today, Nerial and Devolver Digital announced its sequel for PC, Reigns: Her Majesty.

The QuakeCon Steam Sale is now underway
http://www.pcgamer.com/the-quakecon-steam-sale-is-now-underway/
QuakeCon 2017 has begun, and you know what that means—it's time for a Steam sale!
Okay, maybe that's not the most obvious and logical move from proposition to conclusion, but there is a QuakeCon Steam sale on, and there are some pretty good deals to be had, especially on older games you may have missed out on way back when.

>>Steam is not the only platform celebrating QuakeCom. The Humble Store is also running a QuakeCon sale with several Bethesda titles.

And now, the GOG and Steam deals:

+GOG

There are two deals at GOG

+Steam

Besides the QuakeCon Sale, there are other offers/deals on Steam, some of which have already been mentioned during the week

And with that, we reach the end of the news. I hope you have a happy and gaming weekend.
