Here’s why RTX 5090 costs $5,000: AI firms are buying gaming GPUs by the pallet

https://videocardz.com/newz/heres-why-rtx-5090-costs-5000-ai-firms-are-buying-gaming-gpus-by-the-pallet

I read about it in the Techpowerup article (here) and one of th comments pointed out how one of the pictures is clearly Aake:

Make zoom on the Gigabyte cards on the right and you'll see how some of the boxes are labeled as 50B0 and even S0R0.

Now I'm not saying that the info may be fake as well, but at least this picture clearly is.

Upcoming vampire RPG Nighthawks has been removed from Steam search and delisted in certain countries as Valve classifies it Adults Only: 'It's very bad news for us'

Nighthawks, the long-in-development vampire RPG due to be released later this month, is the latest game to run afoul of Steam's increasingly stringent rules regarding adult content. According to publisher Wadjet Eye Games, the game has been labelled 'Adults Only'—causing it to be removed from Steam search and outright delisted in certain countries like Germany—despite claims from both developer and publisher that the RPG's depictions of sex and nudity are very mild.
"We are aware that Steam has classified Nighthawks as an adult game and has excluded it from searches," Wadjet Eye boss Dave Gilbert wrote on Bluesky. "We are working on it. Valve is under the impression that this game is way sexier than it actually is." Gilbert further commented that "Valve is basically treating Nighthawks like a porn game!" in responding to a reply to his initial post.

Damn, that's a huge bummer!

I was on the Kickstarter campaign and I can tell that if they classify that as Adult, they can classify pretty much ever gritty game like Cyberpunk or Warhammer games as "Adult Only", too, because the graphical content is pretty similar.

Hopefully, they'll be able to appeal that decision and make Steam realize the mistake. Maybe Valve's using an AI algorithm to classify the games, like social media uses to check the posts,  and the appeal will bring in a human that will see the mistake.

But it's Valve, so, who knows.

The amount of Steam and GOG sales these days is just staggering. I used to look through them fairly/somewhat carefully, but there's so many of them and so many games included in each one that I've found myself to increasingly just scroll through them and see if anything catches my attention somehow. Not only that, but they also include a lot of games that don't even seem all that great. There was a time when sales events were a half-decent way to discover new games, but it seems that we've moved past that time now.

Also, there was a time when it felt like I kept running into the same games on GOG all the time. I'm not sure if I still do, because I definitely don't recognize as many games as I used to - so I'm guessing there's been an explosion of new releases on GOG too, and most of the new releases don't really look very interesting.

I guess all this means that online stores are becoming more and more places where you go get what you already know rather than places where you can find new stuff.

I'm glad Steam has these theme based sales, but I agree that opening Stema to find a new sale was kind of an event, something exciting. Now it's just another Monday (or Thursday in the case of last week).

Nowadays, unless it's from a genre I like more than othersm I barely pay attention to them.

Of course, the big seasonal ones are still an event and my excitement is there, but I'd lie if I said it's like in the "old" times with the Flash Deals.

I rarely buy on those sales - but I find things for my wishlist later down the road. As a result, my Steam wishlist alone has now over 280 entries...

Rookie numbers! My wishlist has over 1,800 entries. I've tried going through it a bit several times over the years, hoping to remove stuff from there, but it's just not worth the time... Almost everything has a justified place there. I might have to take a stricter stance at some point, but it seems I really want about 1,800 things, mostly games. Needless to say, I won't be able to play but a fraction of them during my lifetime.

I don't think I've bought almost anything from those sales either, it's just a wishlist thing. But it's been getting harder and harder to even find stuff to add to my wishlist, because there's so many events with so many games.

Unofficial PC Version of Super Smash Bros. Melee Released
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/unofficial-pc-version-of-super-smash-bros-melee-released/
And here comes another one. Earlier today, we informed you about the unofficial PC version of Lost Odyssey. And now, we have an unofficial PC port of one of the best Nintendo GameCube games, Super Smash Bros. Melee.
Super Smash Bros. Melee is a fast-paced fighting game that came out in 2001 on the Nintendo GameCube. It features characters from many Nintendo games, including Mario, Link, Pikachu, Samus, and Kirby. The goal in this game is simple: fight your opponents and knock them off the stage.
(***Five paragraphs describing the game and its modes***)
The PC version supports both keyboard and gamepads. However, for this particular title, I strongly suggest using a gamepad. PC players can also adjust the internal resolution to get a crisp image. Furthermore, there are some post-processing shaders, including CRT scanlines, and an in-game settings overlay that you can access by pressing F1.
Do note that this PC port is in an early stage. While you can enjoy most of its modes, it does not have online play with rollback netcode. The All-Star Mode is not available, and there is no support for widescreen PC monitors.
You can go ahead and download this unofficial PC port from here (Github). As with all recompilations, it does not feature any in-game assets. As such, you’ll have to provide your own ROM. Right now, the PC port only supports Melee USA revision 2 (NTSC-U 1.02, GALE01).

Fallout: New Vegas Gets an Online Mod, Now Available for Download
https://www.dsogaming.com/mods/fallout-new-vegas-gets-an-online-mod-now-available-for-download/
Fall-Net Studios, a team of modders, has just released an online mod for Fallout: New Vegas, called New Vegas: Online. Thanks to this mod, players are able to explore the Mojave, role-play as a Brotherhood member, fight other players, and build their own empire. They can also join an empire created by other players and fight to conquer the wasteland.
New Vegas: Online aims to offer a smooth online experience while keeping the core Fallout: New Vegas gameplay intact.
The mod features fully working NPC sync, so players can see NPCs move and act in a shared game world. Combat is also synced between players. The team says it offers low latency with no hit-delay issues. This should make online fights feel fast and responsive.
Loot is synced as well. The system prevents players from duplicating items. It works in a way similar to the loot bag system in Fallout 76.
The mod also includes in-game chat. This lets players talk to each other without using outside apps.
New Vegas: Online also has moderation and admin teams. These teams can help manage the online world and deal with problems that may happen during play.
The mod also uses a Cell Sync System. This system is similar to the one used in Fallout 76. It helps keep the game world in sync for all players. It can also help prevent quests from breaking when players are in the same area.
Finally, the mod has full quest sync. This allows players to take part in quests together and keep their progress in sync.
To gain access to New Vegas: Online, you’ll have to join its Discord server. Below, you can also find its official trailer.

Tuesday gaming news, part number two:

World of Warcraft: Forever will get a hardcore mode by winter, say devs—which'll be interesting, given all the new and undiscovered ways to die
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/world-of-warcraft/world-of-warcraft-forever-will-get-a-hardcore-mode-by-winter-say-devs-whichll-be-interesting-given-all-the-new-and-undiscovered-ways-to-die/
World of Warcraft: Forever, in case you missed the wild news that came out of BlizzCon over the weekend, is essentially Classic+. A reimagining of vanilla WoW with updated talent trees, new raids and dungeons, more horizontal progression, and some shiny, glossic graphics thrown over the top of the whole thing.
Given it's aping a more friction-filled time in history, you might be wondering if it'll be offering a Hardcore mode: The answer, per the "What's Next" panel, is a resounding yes. Production director Clayton Stone, who was the associate production director on Classic itself, took to the stage to profess his love of the hardcore mode:

Lies of P publisher files trademark for likely sequel 'Wonders of O'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/lies-of-p-publisher-files-trademark-for-likely-sequel-wonders-of-o/
First reported by Phrasemaker, Lies of P publisher Neowiz has filed an EU trademark for something called "Wonders of O" categorized as, among other, similar things, a bit of "virtual reality game software." While not 100% confirmed, there's a strong possibility that this is the Lies of P sequel we know is in development.

Bungie delays next Marathon update and ends 'strict seasonal schedule' as it goes all-in on Destiny-like features
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/bungie-delays-next-marathon-update-and-ends-strict-seasonal-schedule-as-it-goes-all-in-on-destiny-like-features/
Bungie is changing how it updates Marathon going forward, saying it is "moving away from a strict seasonal schedule to give the team more flexibility to build, test, and improve features before release." As a result, the content planned to launch as part of this month's seasonal refresh has been delayed into December, and will be preceded by a small update in October "that resets progression and the in-game economy, refreshes rewards, and improves the live game."

After nearly a year of silence following its last-minute delay, Kingmakers resurfaces with an extended gameplay video and new playtest
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/action/after-nearly-a-year-of-silence-following-its-last-minute-delay-kingmakers-resurfaces-with-an-extended-gameplay-video-and-new-playtest/
It's been just about a year since Kingmakers, the game about bringing a gun to a knife fight, was delayed just ahead of its planned launch, and we've heard nothing about it since. Today developer Redemption Road finally broke that extended silence with a new "deep dive" trailer detailing everything players will be doing in the game, and also opened the door to signups for an upcoming playtest.

Arc Raiders Expeditions may not come back: 'Maybe we'll scrap the whole system'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/fps/arc-raiders-expeditions-may-not-come-back-maybe-well-scrap-the-whole-system/
Embark Studios announced a "pause" on Expeditions in Arc Raiders until early 2027 so it can rework the system to address longstanding issues and complaints that can't be handled with "incremental fixes." In a recent interview with PCGamesN, though, Arc Raiders executive producer Aleksander Grøndal said the studio might go even further by ditching Expeditions entirely.

CDPR wants to make The Witcher 3 Remastered feel like any other game released today: 'It's so easy to get used to these new improvements that it's hard to go back'
https://www.pcgamer.com/games/the-witcher/cdpr-wants-to-make-the-witcher-3-remastered-feel-like-any-other-game-released-today-its-so-easy-to-get-used-to-these-new-improvements-that-its-hard-to-go-back/
As if September wasn't busy enough, The Witcher 3 is calling us again. CDPR's remaster will be launching as a free update on September 29. The studio's goal with this new version is to make it feel like a 2026 game, rather than a 2015 game that's been dusted off. And while this is the second time it's had a glow up, the team has been focusing on different things.
