I need to check GoG out more often.  I tend to forget about them.

1) Impressive results from Neural Texture COmpression.

But too bad both Nvidia and AMD will try to use this as an excuse to keep selling 8GB cards next gen.

2) After seeing how they treat their hardware with the lack of driver updates, anyone buying a Lenovo handheld PC is either dumb or masochistic.

5) Good improvements on that front. Keep them coming!

Last) Only Asus would cut corners, almost literally, on the packaging of such expensive displays. I wonder how much they're saving compated to the RMAs expenses they'll have to face.

Then again, their RMA support has sucked for a while now. It won't surprise me if we see a follow up article about how Asus has denied replacements for (at least) some of those monitors.

Some additional info regarding Nvidia Neural Texture Compression compatibility based on Nvidia github page:

https://github.com/NVIDIA-RTX/RTXNTC

What this means is: https://x.com/renan_maniero/status/2040519019048972713

NTC decompression on loading and conversion to BCn: RTX 20+ (Reduces the game's disk space and speeds up loading)
NTC inference per sample (real-time): RTX 40+(Saves a lot of VRAM like in the demo shown)

Thus far, we know RDNA 5 also has support for Neural Texture Compression and Intel has support for their own variation on their Battlemage based on their own github page: https://github.com/GameTechDev/TextureSetNeuralCompressionSample

But take compatibility with a grain of salt of course as it's largely based on what people have found on social media.

I guess the time to retire my RTX 30 cards is approaching...

Today I installed the native PC ports of Jak & Daxter 1 - 3 both on my desktop PC (Windows version of OpenGOAL, native 4K MSAA 16x, less than 100 Watts) and on my Steam Deck (Linux version of OpenGOAL, native 1280x800 MSAA 4x, less than 8 Watts) and played the first missions of each game.

So awesome! And finally great handheld versions of these Naughty Dog classics!
I was so disappointed about the mediocre PS Vita ports I bought in 2013.

I'm glad that I didn't buy the PS4/PS5 version of Jak 1 and the PS4 versions of Jak 2 + 3 AGAIN... I already bought the trilogy three times: the PS2 versions, the PS3 HD versions with stereoscopic option (nice on my 3D TV in my retro room) and the Vita versions.

Here is a good installation guide for the Steam Deck:

Nce!

I had a play around with the new dynamic 6x frame gen thing on Stellar Blade. It made the game a horrible ghosty blur at first, but then I set the frame cap to unlimited in the nvidia app, and the issue mostly resolved itself - with very little ghosting and a very playable experience.

I don't know if I'd ever play the game like that however as I'm quite happy with 4k 150fps without frame gen during DLSS balanced. But it is funny to see 300fps with everything maxed out on DLAA, and a very useless over 500fps if I set DLSS to high performance.

I'm not a fan of fake frames (not much a surprise, is it?), and I really think that going with a 6x multiplayer is ridiculous. More so when the cards that can pull it off better are already capable of running most games just fine, while the ones that could benefit more from it, the low end ones, will struggle the most.

At least you have the option to decide to use it or not, as your card is already a beeast.
