NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 overclocking and 4K gaming benchmarks leaked

https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080-overclocking-and-4k-gaming-benchmarks-leaked

RTX 4090 vs RTX 4080

  • Forza Horizon 5: 147 FPS vs 127 FPS (+15.7%)
  • Shadow of the Tomb Raider: 179 FPS vs 129 FPS (+ 38.8%)
  • Red Dead Redemption 2: 129 FPS vs 99 FPS (+30.3)
  • Cyberpunk 2077: 111 FPS vs 83 FPS (33.7%)
  • COD MW2: 137 FPS vs 127 FPS (+7.9%)

Now the 4090 vs 4080 comparison are made by two different users with two different PCs so I'd take it with a grain of salt. I do think we can see the two games the 7900XTX could match or beat the 4090 in which is FH5/MW2 while the other 3, I suspect 7900XTX will be in the middle. Overall, good performance at a terrible price.

If you go by the numbers that AMD provided. MW2 should be 139fps on 7970XTX vs 127fps on 4080 while Red Dead Redemption 2 will be 93fps on 7900XTX vs 99fps on the 4080. But again, different tests and such.

Mind the gap, PSU expert recommends how to insert 12VHPWR cables correctly

If there needs to be a tutorial on how to insert a simple connector properly so that it's seated correctly, then the connector should have been designed better. Although since it's only a theory as he tried to miss assign it and it didn't melt, it's probably not the cause either.

The god damn Gamecube version was 60 fps. What is this nonsense?

So, by those tests, the 4080 should end roughly in betwen the 3090Ti and 4090, closer to the former than the later. It would be a great result for a 4070Ti.

And the whole 16-pin connector situation gets worst ech time we find something new. I guess the new finding and the redesign of the connector will solve the problem, but we'll see when it will reach retail products. It's likely too late to include it with the 4070Ti, and I don't think they'll use it for the 4070/4060 and lower cards.

So my guess is with a revision of the 4090 & 4080 in a few months or when the 4090Ti launches, whatever happens first.

It's still gonna sell, I mean the previous ones sold well enough despite all the hiccups and low res textures on PC.

I know they hate me telling them this on Steam forums, but them die-hard weebs really need some standards, don't buy that shit day 1 and let the corps learn the stern lesson of quality control.

This is pretty much why I've stopped bothering with JRPG's on PC, because it's a list of negative cons:

  • High asking price
  • Muddy af textures/low res UI
  • clunky K+M controls
  • Denuvo
  • 30fps or 60 only locks
  • Not friendly with Gsync/Free-sync (I know, because I tried to get a few  Tales games on PC to work with G-sync and I just get major stuttering shit, so I have to disable it just to play the sodding games)

I could go on, but I think you guys get the point. I just wish those doing the ports would learn the lesson sooner instead of 10+yrs, but at the same time, I'm tired of ppl on PC just accepting lesser quality control, just because they feel they need to have the game in their library. I stopped buying Disgaea games, because quality control was going downhill, same with the Tales Series and even Star Ocean.

The funny thing is that on PC, we can just play the GC version with the HD texture pack and 60fps which would give a superior experience than the trash remasters. The only problem is the low resolution cutscenes.

What's double hilarious is that you can do all of that for free, and Bamco is gonna straight up charge for the cutback remasters.

Man, getting Skyrim SE and Bioshock 1-2 remasters for free really feels like the end of an era where something like that on PC would literally just be a smallish download and handed over for free, man I miss when we had it like that.

Yuri, I'm surprised a fan hasn't fixed the cutscenes. For Mass Effect 3, before the "Legendary Edition", on PC modders AI upscaled the cutscenes with pretty good results. As for the aforementioned Mass Effect. The best thing about the Legendary Edition is that it removed the 3.5GB memory limit that hampered the best texture mods on the vanilla PC version.

I'm sure there's someone out there who could upscale the cutscenes and replace the old ones.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet is already playable on PC via Nintendo Switch emulators
https://www.dsogaming.com/videotrailer-news/unreleased-pokemon-scarlet-and-violet-is-already-playable-on-pc-via-nintendo-switch-emulators/
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will officially release on November 18th, and it appears that it will be playable on PC on day-1. Last week, the game was leaked online and from the looks of it, the Nintendo Switch emulator, Ryujinx, can run it.
As we can see, emulation is not perfect yet as there are a number of graphical glitches and performance issues. Still, we’re talking about an unreleased triple-A game. Thus, it’s quite impressive that the game can already run on this Nintendo Switch emulator.

DXVK 2.0 released, aiming to minimize shader compilation stutters in DX11 & DX12 games
https://www.dsogaming.com/news/dxvk-2-0-released-aiming-to-minimize-shader-compilation-stutters-in-dx11-dx12-games/
The team behind DXVK, a Vulkan-based DX11 and DX12 translation layer, has released a brand new version of it. The key feature of DXVK 2.0 is its shader compilation changes which aim to minimize the shader compilation stutters in DX11 and DX12 games.
As the team noted, on drivers which support VK_EXT_graphics_pipeline_library, including the IndependentInterpolationDecoration feature, Vulkan shaders will now be compiled at the time the game loads its D3D shaders, rather than at draw time. This will reduce or eliminates shader compile stutter in many games.
Do note that games which only load their D3D shaders at draw time (e.g. Witcher 3, and most Unreal Engine 4 games) will still exhibit some stutter. However, things should be better now with DXVK 2.0. Thus, and for games that have shader compilation stutters, we suggest giving DXVK 2.0 a go.
DXVK 2.0 also packs some other improvements. For instance, it can now expose D3D11 Feature Level 12_1. It also features memory management improvements for DX9 games.
