From what we know so far, Half-Life: Alyx is a new VR game. This project started as a VR exploration game, and only targets VR devices. As such, there won’t – most likely – be a “traditional” version that will support mouse and keyboard.

Fortnite is getting DirectX 12 support and AMD is ready with a new GPU driver

Epic Games is preparing an update to Fortnite (v11.20) that will introduce DirectX 12 support on compatible graphics cards. While players await the patch, AMD has already made available a Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 2019 driver update to leverage the upcoming DX12 patch.
"By using DX12, PC players with high-end GPUs may experience a higher and steadier frame rate. This is because DX12 delivers better CPU performance and allows for the distribution of rendering jobs across multiple cores," Epic Games explains.
In addition to the promised immediate performance boost, Epic Games said it plans on "adding features to Fortnite that are made possible by DX12" in the future, though the developer did not go into specifics.
If you own a Radeon graphics card or GPU (or plan to upgrade to one when the Black Friday deals roll into view), AMD's new 19.11.3 driver release ensures your setup is ready for the update. And that's really all it brings to the table. The release notes mention more than a half a dozen bug fixes too, but they're the same ones that applied to the previous driver update.

Oculus Link beta turns the Quest into a PC VR headset and is available now

Oculus Link software is now available in beta form, which means it's now possible to play any game developed for PC VR, and the Rift headset, on the Oculus Quest. It starts with plugging the Quest into your PC.
This is a welcome upgrade to what we already viewed as the best VR headset (when factoring in bang-for-buck). That's assuming Oculus Link works as advertised. We have not yet had a chance to test it ourselves, but this opens a potentially exiting door for VR gaming.

Matt Filer has been working on an interesting mod for Alien: Isolation. Aliens: Isolation (pay attention to that extra “s”) is a mod that adds multiple xenomorphs to Creative Assembly’s horror game. And to be honest, it looks kind of cool.
According to Matt, this mod is for those that found the game a bit too easy. And even though the mod is not out yet, Matt has released a video showcasing it in action.
Now as you may have guessed, you can’t kill these xenomorphs. Similarly to the vanilla game, you’ll have to evade them and hide from them. Thus, the game will become way more difficult than what it initially was.

Nvidia releases a GPU hotfix to address stalling in Red Dead Redemption 2

In response to complaints of Red Dead Redemption 2 hanging on some systems equipped with a GeForce graphics card, Nvidia has come out with a hotfix to address the issue. In addition, it is supposed to fix a crashing bug when playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider as well.
Nvidia's GeForce hotfix driver version 441.34 is based on the "Game Ready" 441.20 WHQL driver that I wrote about last week. The release notes for that driver mentioned a few RDR2 quirks that were supposed to be fixed, but apparently there are some lingering bugs.

Modder D?nt? has released a new mod for S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat. This mod, which weights around 4.5GB in size, aims to overhaul the game’s graphics by introducing Ultra HD Textures. As such, we suggest downloading it if you are planning to replay this STALKER title.
Alongside the new HD textures, this mod brings new models for characters, monsters, weapons, hands and items. Furthermore, it packs enhanced weather, nature, structures, particles, shaders and post process effects.
The modder also claims that this mod brings a 64-bit engine to the game. I don’t know how efficient this new executable is, or whether there are any meaning performance differences between this and the vanilla executable.

It looks like Destiny 2: The Collection, one of the Stadia's launch games, won't be limited only to Google's streaming platform. It launched yesterday on Stadia, but PEGI ratings suggest that it will also be coming to PC and consoles.
Update: Bungie told GamesRadar that it has "no plans right now to have Destiny 2: The Collection available outside of Stadia," noting that it's "pretty easy to find ways to be content complete" without having to spring for an entirely new collection. SuperData Arcade has shared its monthly report, stating that COD:MW had the best selling digital launch of 2019. Furthermore, APEX Legends had its best month in October since the title’s launch quarter.
Going into more details, Modern Warfare sold an estimated 4.75 million digital units across console and PC in October, down 11% from Black Ops 4 last year, although there were fewer days this year due to a later launch in the month. The average selling price of digital units also declined from last year due to the lack of a season pass bundle.
On the other hand, Apex Legends generated $45 million from in-game spending in October, up from $16 million in September. Respawn’s shooter has clearly grown into an important growth driver for EA since its launch in February. Still, Superdata notes that total lifetime revenue comes in slightly below 50% of FIFA Ultimate Team over that same period.

Furthermore, modder ‘ItsBurpee’ has released another mod that replaces the female voice 19 with 2B’s voice from Soul Calibur VI. Half-Life fans, here is something for you today. Jackathan has released the first version of In Deep; a mod that re-imagines and revamps the scrapped 1997 version of Half-Life.
This first release features the entire “Office Warrens” chapter from the Half-Life 0.52 Alpha. Jackathan has remade this chapter from scratch, which also comes with improved puzzles and gameplay.
As Jackathan noted, this isn’t a 1-1 remake of the cancelled “Office Warrens” chapter. Still, it does not stray too far from the original’s designs and layouts.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order might only have been out for a little over a week, but modders are already going to town on the game’s visuals. Visual, rendering, and display mods are usually the first to appear for games without extensive mod support, but the number of mods popping up addressing similar issues speak to a particularly pressing desire. There are plenty of modders focusing on reshades, FX, lighting, outfit visuals, and especially Cal’s appearance for the game. Nobody seems quite happy with how Cal looks. There’s one that tweaks his adult textures, one that makes him Ben Skywalker from the expanded universe, and one that makes him, uh, “less of a ginger.”

Red Dead Redemption 2 modders are making their own Undead Nightmare 2

The dead have risen out of their graves to hound Arthur Morgan in a Red Dead Redemption 2 mod inspired by Undead Nightmare. Rockstar has shied away from singleplayer DLC and expansions with its last couple of games, so this might be the closest we get to the real thing.
The video, uploaded by jedijosh920, shows off 12 minutes of zombie murder, though technically the zombies are shrieking members of Red Dead Redemption 2's horrible Night Folk. Conveniently, they look a fair bit like zombies already, though they're smart enough to carry knives.

Kings of Lorn: The Fall of Ebris is a first-person dark-fantasy survival-horror game developed and published by TeamKill Media. This is their first game, if I’m not mistaken and I’m getting Dark Messiah, Painkiller, Hexen and Blade of Darkness vibes. I will definitely give this game a go. I will let you know down in the comments if it’s actually worth forty bucks. I hope it does.

Saibot Studios and Nimble Giant have launched a brand new demo for Hellbound so you can get your frantic, blood-soaked first person shooter fix.
Created in homage to the 90s FPS classics such as Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem 3D and Blood (amongst others), Hellbound focuses on action, speed and gore as you fight against hordes of enemies who have taken over a distant planet.

A lot of PC gamers were concerned about the PC version of Halo: Reach. After all, 343 Industries was planning to lock its framerate at 60fps. According to the team, the unlocked framerate introduced some issues during the latest flighting, which is why it was planning to lock it. However, the team was able to sort these issues out, and the game will ship with support for variable framerates.

Valve has revealed the official minimum PC requirements for its next Half-Life game, Half-Life: Alyx. According to the specs, PC gamers will at least need an Intel Core i5-7500 or an AMD Ryzen 5 1600 with 12GB of RAM.
Valve also lists the NVIDIA GeForce GTX1060 and the AMD Radeon RX580 as the game’s minimum GPU requirements. Unfortunately, there is no word on whether the game will support a low-level API like DirectX 12 or Vulkan.
