Forums - Microsoft - Cliffy B strikes back on DRM and Family Sharing

Oh, for the love of--

Have nobody ever heard of Occam's Razor? The simplest solution is the best solution? Methinks simply handing my friend the game is, indeed, the simplest solution.

Any questions? No? Good.

Exactly! They can never prove that having the power to hand your friend a game can be replaced by digital rights. Its bullshit everytime. They have not made the case for DRM and that little piece of shit they call a "Family Plan" Is a hoax.

I love Cliff Bleszinski XD What he says is true here.    You can hate on him but the family plan was awesome. Btw guys MSFT already came out saying that it was more than demos and it may come out for the X1 in the future anyways for digital copies. Hopefully it does.

What you read before sounds to be a guy acting like a Microsoft employee when in fact he wasnt.

Ok so here is what i dont understand, could someone please elaborate?
(and i have asked this in another thread with no answear)

The Family sharing plan and how you can share downloaded games and DLC with family and such. The reason is that I thought you could do this already, I mean I have all of the DLC for Borderlands (other games also) and not only can my GF play the DLC I bought on my account (on the same PS3) but my brother who has my old PS3 can also play that DLC because that was the original system I played it on. So basically all my Digital Downloads and DLC are playable on different accounts on my PS3 but from what I have heard isn't that what the Family plan on XBone was all about?

I am seriously not trying to make this about PS vs. Xbox, I just want to know if this is what the Family plan is on the XBone, can someone please elaborate.

Seriously.... Wtf did this guy do to make him think that he is the second coming...?

Unreal and Gears of War.

Yeah so that right after sorry....

damn that E3 was one of the worst PR MS ever did.... I think even vista/win7 transition was better.....

they nailed it on games but the rest was a fiasco....

I wonder if it's because the XB1 is not finished on the software and policy side or because MS is busy on too many fronts.... between WP8 GDR2 coming this jully.... build conference announcement of oracle integration in MS cloud.... win8/rt/phone 8 blue deployment early next year, office magelan upgrade and the hardware division with second generation of surface.....

anyway if this is true i'm definitely going DD

and I think both can be true from even if it was taking you to the store every 45min maybe you could keep playing clicking cancel or something.... and about people saying it's worst than second hand.... well I think it really depends on how it is implemented.... with second hand they get zero money in the current state of things.... in that case they might have some people buying online but also people forget that in the old system if the owner sells the game people have to buy it too.... if they buy it new dev get money and second hand they get money too.... bottom line in that story I think gamestop is the most evil of the lot

anyway I really think MS wants to try out new things in terms of distribution... and I think they have not figured out what would be the best combo yet......

saw* can't edit sorry

I don't get it, I thought he hates used game because it takes away revenue from developer. With game sharing, instead of 1 copy being resold twice or at most 3 times, you have 1 game being shared between 10 people? Mix message here man....

That's a retarded argument in those photos, I have never in my life lent a game to friends all over the nation and I never will. Besides, Cliffy's concern is used games killing the industry, won't it kill it if you can simply share your games with others and they won't have to buy it themselves?
Isn't that even worse?
At least if ten people buy used copies, that would mean that there had to be ten original sales in the first place (of course, one game could be purchased several times though).
