Forums - Microsoft - Cliffy B strikes back on DRM and Family Sharing

I agree but no faces just boobs :)

On the subject I love how people discredit the family sharing plan by saying it is worst because us gamers are big greedy Ahole with all the intention to abuse everything that is thrown at us.... while I agree if the game demo would have been available like that without drawback compared to owning it, it would have been terrible..... but maybe they had ways to provide incentive for people to buy the games, restrictions we haven't thought of....
the store could have been prompted every 15-45 min.... they loose access if more than 1 other player plays.... they lose access when the game is sold.... maybe saves are gone every time you log out.... no access to co op and multiplayer, advertising is overlaid on your screen... you can't play if the owner is not logged in or didn't do the 24hr check in etc... and many more option we haven't envisioned ourselves.... plus people forget that with there initial concept devs where getting a share on every resale of the game which is not the case with sony's current plan.... these things put together might have actually generated more money for devs than the current state of things or Sony's solution....

I think MS is genuinely toying with the idea of all DD, and some form of game sharing over the cloud.... the cap might have been changed from 10 to 4 or 5 over time etc.... and that specifics weren't/aren't finalized on paper yet, that's why they couldn't really communicate on it, maybe they were still working on the best solution...
And maybe only maybe we might see their idea being implemented in the future for DD and we'll see how it turns out.... for all we know they had a great idea that might have worked fine for everybody in terms of benefits to the player and extra revenues to the devs....

just because players are short sighted and didn't think further than "if I have one game, I can share with 10 peeps, i'll abuse it and they won't get more money" is not a valid reason to say they didn't think out a good working idea or are working on it....

Game sharing > Used game sales

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

yeah but today without game sharing, used game sales=0 to devs
and once again you/we have no clue on how it would have worked exactly....

quote from what I posted on XB forum a few minutes ago ( so it's not targeted at anybody here but sums up what I think)

"LOL I love how people say they know better than MS if this was true or false.... and know better if the concept was better or worst for devs.... as a matter of fact we, the players, have no clue on how it would have work and it what way it could have been or not beneficiary for all parties or not.... those are the facts... WE DON'T KNOW SHITE.....

what people forget in this argument is that every second hand sale would have brought money back to devs.... we don't know how the sharing plan would have worked exactly and what form of incentive model MS had in mind to generate profit out of the that sharing plan.... for all we know it might have been a win/win for everybody.... and now that the policy have been changed why would people complain about the possibility for it to come back for DD... you people got what you wanted if the options comes back down the road for gamers using DD.... why does it matter to you.... I think players still biatching just because they are afraid they might have been wrong....

it's not because you are short sighted and you think it wouldn't have worked, that you are right about it... without specifics nobody can make any valid assumption one way or the other...."

Game sharing > Used game sales

The two have nothing to do with each other and Gamesharing is limited compared to used games in the context of its existence. This makes asbsolutely no sense. You're just falling for Microsoft propaganda. Theres no way game sharing would give you as much freedom as you were led to believe. Microsoft and EA even though they accept its power and existence must accept used games but they would rather control it which is MS tried to take a share of Gamestop profits on Xbone titles which they could be sued for because secondary markets are protected in the US based on the first sale doctrine.

You do know this is not how it was gonna work? The sharing was only for an hour. Welcome to the age of reality!

Poor people, who still dont get how microsoft works. How long will you keep lieing to yourselves i wonder...

- He supports DRM on Xbox One, because that means developers will receive more money.
- When Microsoft drops DRM, he rants like a fanboy, and blame us, terrible people who buy used games, on the closing of gaming studios.
- He keeps defending DRM by saying that one copy would be enough to let 10 people play - instead of each of these 10 people buying their own copy, which would give developers more money.
- ...WTF?

Fucking hypocrite. I officialy despise Cliff B now.

He is just upset, doesn't really know what he wants anymore, making argument just for the sake of it.

He will let go of it eventually.

Cliff Bleszinski is not stupid, he's made millions off of gaming (Namely Gears) and he seems to have  a stake in Microsofts success. He's always poked fun at Sony in the public eye even though he owns a PS3 and made judgements about Naughty Dog even though he respects them as developers. Hes trying to use his popularity as leverage to help Microsoft get over the PR hump but its not working because the fans are not stupid. He should know this first hand.
