Will ps4 break console launch week record

Yes 86 68.25%

No 40 31.75%

Total:126

No way to break that in America, It should have better FW than ps3 there, so in general it'll do just GREAT !

Almost any new console can break that record so long as they can manufacturer and deliver that amount.

BTW, this is a US record correct? You need to clarify that in title/op.

I agree... the record is not that big... just that every console have supply issues at launch.

US FW? Maybe. It won't follow up anywhere near as well as the other systems, though.

why not?

It's just a different world than when those systems launched, and there's also two systems coming out at the same time, vying for every sale.

And there's the Wii U, as well as their predecessors with a much larger library at lower prices. It would be bold to say it will see the same level of success as the PS2 after launch because of a combination of all the above reasons.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

WiiU was 962k
Wii 1.21m

I disagree. Worldwide has gotten a lot bigger since 12 years ago. Consoles are actually getting into new countries, sales as a whole, are up gen over gen, and there is less competition from the Nintendo side. As far as other devices eating up the market. Well, given the sales growth this gen, one could argue against that. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Breaking preorder records on Amazon is pretty good evidence, and costs are cheaper than they were last gen, could be much easier to get down to that 200$ sweet spot. Remember, PS2 sold about 70% of its consoles at 200$, and 30% at under 120.

I don't think so.

Both these consoles are going to have major supply issues.

I'm saying no, in fact no chance in hell. However, the reason why I believe this is that Sony is not just competing with MS or Nintendo, there competing with themselves. $399.99 is a great price point, but you have to remember X360 and PS3 will still be selling loads in the holidays. We are looking at a possibly price cut for both X360 and PS3. Plus Sony still has GT6 launching around that time frame as well. Which means a good portion of the big EU sales are going to hold off upgrading to PS4 because they just bought GT6. Also, Japan might not be launching this holiday which also brings the figure down. The great PR and press will do well for Sony in the US come holiday season, but not enough to break any records..

It depends on supply, what regions it's released and i guess the week it comes out too. If PS4 comes out in both America and Europe, it's possible i think.

Xbox Series, PS5 and Switch (+ Many Retro Consoles)

Prediction: Switch 2 will outsell the PS5 by 2030

If you mean over 500k first week worldwide, then with ease if PS4 will launch the same week in Europe. There will be fucking riots to get this console in Europe, if supply allows it may break the amazing 600k of the PS3 here. If it will launch only in US during it's first week, then no. The sales will split with the Xbone.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!
