Forums - Sony - The last of us not as good as once thought? (Graphics)

But it's a console game. And most console games have terrible textures, because there is no tesselation. I love The Last Of Us's art style.

As is the case with virtually all games, once you examine the textures closely they are flat and poor resolution.
But on the grand scheme of things its an incredibly good looking console game

Current Game Machines: 3DS, Wii U, PC.

Currently Playing: X-Com(PC), Smash Bros(WiiU), Banner Saga(PC), Guild Wars 2(PC), Project X Zone(3DS), Luigis Mansion 2(3DS), DayZ(PC)

Tesselation has close to nothing to do with textures.

Did anyone notice how the graphics seem to cycle from blurry to clear constantly?

Watch Joel while playing as thats where its most notable. Im not sure if it was intended or just the system limitations, it was a bit off putting though.

It shows exactly what CGI and I said. It has nothing to do with textures.

I haven't played it yet.

Is it motion blur? A lot of games have that to cover up model/animation issues or to give motion more umph, but imo it makes games look more nauseating, while hurting the FPS.

Not really motion blur (though there is some of that also)

Best way to describe is like were seeing it through a camera, and that camera keeps going out of focus. Not randomly though, like a 2 or 3 second cycle.

The artstyle is fantastic though and some of the environments are beautiful to look at.

Was not impressed, even in the slightest. The cinemas do look great but in game was meh. ACE fucking game though. I'd still give it a A +++++ score even though I wasn't impressed with the graphics. Looks like Kratos will take the crown for this gen. Beyond is not giving me a hard on either - graphically.
