Wii U won´t get a price cut this year. I accept bets :D

I think the actual reason is because they already did it with the 3DS, and the resultz were not that great. Short term results.

The 3ds got long term results.  It continues to be the number 1 console week to week.

I think the reason they won't do it is because they have patience and don't want to lose money by dropping price. The wiiu will do well this Christmas with the game they have coming out.  Next Spring would be a good time to do a price drop. Plus they could just bundle New Super Mario Bros U with at 299.99 in a white console and sell every unit they ship this Christmas.

Here are the bundles that should  be:
            1. Nintendo Land Bundle-299.99$
            2. Watch Dogs Bundle-299.99$
            3. Call of Duty Ghosts Bundle-299.99$
            4. Batman Arkham Origins and Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze Bundle-349.99$
            5. Sonic Lost World and Super Mario 3D World Bundle-349.99$
            6. Rayman Legends, Pikmin 3 and The Wonderful 101 Bundle-374.99$

im 95% sure they will cut the price before during holiday season... but probably they wont announce it until before black friday..... yay for 10 ambassador games... :)

It makes absolutely no sense to do a cut during holidays, retailers will be doing there own deals/bundles so theres no point for an official cut. Also they wont give an ambassador program if they do cut the price when u say they will, that will be one full year after launch opposed to 5 months for the 3DS price drop.

its called surplusing....

since the sales is abyssbal.... try to put the name in the market to rebound...

it does make sense since the main competition is coming out for the holiday to steal their market... so they need a more competitive price....

Sorry if my last response came off rude. I just mean it makes more sense to either cut the price a few months before the holidays to build momentum leading up to the holidays or to cut the price a few months after the holidays to maintain post holiday momentum.

I think either a $50 cut In August to coincide with a new marketing campaign and first party titles starting to release or a $100 cut next April to foincide with Mario Kart 8 and the start of the fiscal year.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

At first I was leaning on a price cut.

But more than likely we'll just see new bundling options with some of the newer games coming out. Maybe limited editions too for say Mario or the NSLU game since its the "year of luigi" and all.

The OP makes a lot of sense. A pricecut may come when Mario Kart 8 launches.

It's a $100 difference between the Wii and Wii U. And the answer is the Gamepad.

Wii U Basic is $300. Wii was $250. That's a $50 difference.

Indeed, in Australia, the Wii was $400, the Wii U Basic is $350. And the Wii was selling far better. Games decide sales, not price. If the games are high enough quality, people will pay the price.

Wii with a game: $250. Wii U with a game: $350.

Games and price decide sales. If the price is too high, people won't buy regardless of the games.

You didn't address the Gamepad at all. Not only is the Wii U $100 more than the Wii, its perceived value is also lower (meaning the Wii U at $250 with a game will still sell much worse than the Wii did).

Wii without a game: $200 at a high profit, could probably profit at $100 or at least break even.

Wii U without a game: $300 while sold at a loss.

yep, the situations are the same.

look, this crap about the game pad being costy is too old already, if wii u only came with a pro controller it would retail for only $50 less.

what I would do If I were nintendo is this: basic model discontinued, then lower the price of the deluxe to $289 and include a digital version of both Nintendo Land and New super mario bros U. that would add an AMAZING value.

then have bundles retailing for $349, including a pro controler + the following games for each bundle.

Donkey Kong, Mario 3d World, Watch Dogs and maybe Wind Waker or something else.

I think we could see better value bundles but at thr same price, meaning Deluxe goes down to $299 and release bundles at $349. Some possible bundles being

Deluxe w/NSMBU+Wiimote-$349

Deluxe w/Wii Fit+Balance Board-$349

Deluxe w/COD+Pro Controller-$349

So a true price cut isnt really necessary since there will be plenty of holiday deals/bundles.

I could see this happening minus the balance board part.  A game is one thing but that balance board is not super cheap to make (at least when compared to a game).
