Guys just to add to this whole 1080p discussion....

1080 @60FPS means nothing.

60FPS is awesome, no discussion needed about that 60FPS>30FPS. Doesnt matter what the resolution is, if a game is running at 60FPS, gameplay is usually smooth and responsive. A must for driving games and platformers.

1080p on the hand can be applied to any game. You can take mario from way back and make it 1080p, it will make the game look clear and crisp but the old assets will show through. 1080p by itself doesnt mean anything, you need the assets to go with it.

In the case of Forza running at 1080p@60FPS compared to Driveclub running at 30FPS...it might be a case where the assets of Forza are not as high as those used in Driveclub. I obviously don't know this but thats how these kinda things work.

It still seems like people are arguing over the power of consoles though....which is really stupid at this stage. Sony went for the more powerfull hardware, MS went the more cost/heat efficient route. This will show in games and the difference will be significant. It's just a matter of buying a better GPU for your PC...its not complicated guys.

I partly agree but given the ps4 is better in specs I think it's surprising to see technical issues by now. I honestly expected otherwise. Imagine it would be the other way round now... But still time is left until release, nothing is set in stone.

60FPS + 1080 P will be used in a few games. 1.8 TFLOP GPU is not that great to support it easily.

I think it can support it easily but you can't go crazy with the visual effects and IQ.

I think the 7850 and 7870 are great 1080p cards.

I think Ethomaz was right when he said Forza is the exception. Forza looks decent (not really a knock out, but a decent step up compared to last gen) and it runs at 1080p @60FPS. Thats the only next gen game thats doing that. All the other games on PS4 and Xbox One don't seem to even be ready for launch yet. Games that are struggling to run at 30FPS wont be running at 60FPS come launch IMO. That being said I think its even more worisome when games wernt even running on devkit hardware at E3. Imagine the state of those games had we to see them live ???

Some seem to not understand (not you exactly):

Consoles have a certain amount of power. If you write a game you have to fiddle with the power you are given. You can't throw anything you want and think this will somehow work. Even with ps4/Xbone you have to make compromises.

Man, sounds a little disappointing. The gameplay in the Killzone trailer didn't look very smooth.

Looks like we're all going to have to run crying to Sony Santa Monica and Naughty Dog.

Naughty Dog seems to be moving in the same direction as GG. There games on PS3 got progressively less responsive with each Uncharted title. And this was in no way a design choice.

I think this comes down to visuals over gameplay unfortunately.

Not uncommon during development. I'm fairly sure we'll see improvements at least on the Killzone and Knack side. Do you really believe the system architect is going to release his game like that?

Also wasn't the X1 dev kits running PCs with a Titan? Of course they would be running well over 60fps.

Yeah but the OP specifically mentions Forza which is running on Xbone hardware.

I can't read it again... No, this is wrong. Please go to DF on yourself and read...

This is exactly why I despise Killzone. Yeah its a great looking FPS, but that is all. The controls are terrible and 60fps should be the standard for a FPS. I don't want to hear "its supposed to feel that way and GG wanted 30fps." battlefield has heft to its guns and it runs at 60FPS+ (PC) and it is responsive. Being unresponsive and 30fps =/= heft.

So why is your avatar Master Chief from Halo?  None of the Halo games run at 60fps.

because there is no nextgen-halo. halo5 is said to be 60 fps,
