What makes you say that?

I think AC4 is too overdone at this point. Its the sort of game that really relies on the masses for its sales, masses which don't currently exist on the Wii U which I think is 90% hardcore gamers ATM. I just can't see a ton of Wii U owners running out to get it. Although 300k is probably too low an estimate for watch dogs. I expect it will do really well, I think AC4 will barely reach 300k. Between Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Windwaker HD, AC4, Watch dogs and Mario world 3D, AC4 will be get the short end of the stick. How it does I think is dependant on how many casual gamers pick up the Wii U.
I noticed that the games listed in the OP were solely from Ubisoft (Watch Dogs; Assassin's Creed; Rayman; Splinter Cell) & Warner Bros. (Batman).
They have other reasons to want the Wii-U to do well. I presume Ubisoft think it's the most viable platform for Just Dance to be a success; and Warner Bros. want it to be the best for Scribblenauts/LEGO games.
Therefore, I don't think third party support from these two is going to dry up in general. For the cost of porting and probably at least recouping their costs, it's worth releasing these games just in case it grows the install base a small amount for their other titles.
So I don't think it's going to do a lot for other third-party support unless they really, really sell gangbusters. Rayman will do well because there's already a fanbase who like 2D platformers on the system. I can't see Creed or Splinter Cell doing well. Watch Dogs might, and I don't really have much idea how Batman will do.
Those games were already planned long before the Wii U was released.
I doubt many new third party games are planned for the Wii U.
So it almost doesn't matter how much they will sell. And we know they will sell badly anyway.
Wii U is already dead for third party games.
IF the games and the WiiU ports versions are good, my plan is to get Watchdogs for it.
I'll get Assassin's Creed for PC, most likely in Xmas 2015 when it will be 10-20 €, which is what I've being doing with the rest of the AC games.
I've never played any Splinter Cell, so I don't know if I'll get it, period, and I'm not a big fan of Rayman.
Batman will depend, I like the games but it's not a game that I'll rush to buy, if I ever end up buying it.
Overall I think most of those games will do better than their previous iterations because, unlike the last time, this year they will launch at the same time as the other versions.
And I don't know how much will they sell in terms of thousands of copies sold, but in order to make the platform interesting, they must end up selling in a similar ratio than the PS360 versions, something between 10-15% of the total user base. If they make that, WiiU will still be on their plans.
Please excuse my bad English.
Former gaming PC: i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070
Current gaming PC: R5-7600, 32GB RAM 6000MT/s (CL30) and a RX 9060XT 16GB
Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.
After they screwed us Wii U owners I am not going to but Rayman Legends!!
All other guys mention in the OP I am getting at some point!! Also do not forget RE is out right now!!
Do most of my third party gaming on the PC (maybe on the 360 if I have a ton of friends buying the game for multiplayer) but Watch Dogs is a definite Wii U purchase because the game seems like it would play so much better on the Pad. Probably Rayman, as well.
| Licence said: It seems to me that Nintendo's problem at the moment is that they are too much pro-player. Let me explain. Both the XBone and the PS4 are going to move to a model where games are rented to consumers, effectively killing the used game market. (Think PS4 won't follow this model? Sony already admitted that they will leave this option open to the publishers, and the publishers *WILL* make use of it). From a publisher's point of view, this means that XBone and PS4 will earn more revenue. The Wii U is a risk to them, because the second hand market will reduce their revenue. So even if a miracle occurs and the adoption rate of the Wii U suddenly sky rockets, and even if their titles sell well on the Wii U, the game publishers will still release games to the Wii U later than to the Sony/MS platforms. This is because they want to cash in on the initial hype of a new release, and want to maximize the revenues earned on the rental market. They essentially want any cross-console owner to buy the game on their Sony/MS console *first*, and then allow exclusive Nintendo owners to buy it once the hype dies down. While Nintendo put the concerns of the players above those of the publishers, the publishers will treat them (and we Nintendo owners) as second class citizens. For me, this is a sad state of affairs, that the concerns of publishers are driving the way we own and play games. |
The only thing drm will earn devs is less consumers.

They still could have been cancelled, but they weren't.
