It'll improve the image of Brazil in people's minds, but it definitely won't help the people. I would have never considered Brazil if I was on a committee.

It was probably the most viable option in South America. What else would you have picked?

It couldn't have been Mexico again, they've already hosted twice since WW2 I fink.

USA would have been to early also.

But, they wouldn't necessarily had to have the 2014 Cup in the Americas to begin with. Lots of countries want to host, not just European ones.

What else you gonna use than public money?

You're hosting the show, you make the stadiums.

Nice stadiums. I want to watch a great show.

The statium have to be made with private money... investments, sponsorships and some money from the Club that will be the owner of the stadium.

The roof of one stadium fell after a storm lol

Haaa they are nice .

It can't be done with private money. Only in the USA, because the market is so differenet.

Elsewhere in the world the public sector has to take the biggest responsibility for an event like this.

Imagine how many millions of people will be happy watching over a month of football in summer of 2014? I will watch constantly (unless the time zone thing prevents me). I can't wait.

Argentina is a viable country no?

Hopefully it does not end up as bad as the video explains with the money situation. Hopefully the many tourists have great experiences and maybe en see a bit more of Brazil and raise these issues back at their home countries and get the world more interested in Brazil's corruption and lack of health infrastructure.

You will be surprised how much money football move here... in fact the initial proposal was to use only private money and if there is no corruption I think is perfectly possible here in Brasil.

There are two differents things...

1) Stadium build... private money.
2) City's infrastructure... public money.

City's infrastructure... I mean paving, streets, transport system, close hospitals, etc.

Economically only Brasil is option in Latin American.

Argentina is actualy broke economically.

Mexico and the USA are in North America and that is a different region as far as football is concerned. On a sidenote, Mexico hosted twice within 16 years (1970 and 1986), so the USA wouldn't have been too early after hosting in 1994.

South America didn't host a World Cup since 1978 (Argentina), so they were overdue. Besides, it should be pretty clear by now that the FIFA isn't making decisions based on what is the absolute best for the World Cup. Brazil is hosting, simply because it was about time that the World Cup returns to South America, economic feasibility be damned. Corruption is the reason why Qatar gets to host in 2022.

No kidding.

With Russia in 2018 too.

The UK and Australia respectively got only like 1 or 2 votes each in those bids.

It's all about bribes if you want to host the Cup

no. Totally broken

Does seem quite contrived that they're hosting both the World Cup and Olympic Games.
