Talk of the PS4 being a magnitude more powerful than the Xbox One may be exaggerated, Watch Dogs' senior producer Dominic Guay has suggested.

"The hardware is still new and it's obvious to us that it is going to take a while to get to the full power and harness everything," Guay told Nowgamer. "What is clear is that both systems, PS4 and Xbox One, have comparable power which is good for us as developers."

There have been rumours that the Xbox One will be unable to match the capabilities of the PS4, but Guay's comments suggest the difference may only be small.

Regarding the next generation versions of Watch Dogs, Guay says there are numerous enhancements possible when compared to current-gen.

"There are obviously quite a few differences," said Guay. "There's graphics, of course, but there's also the dynamism of the city. For example, the water is far more realistic on next gen, the way it flows and parts when you drive a boat through it. We also gave better brains to NPCs, they are smarter in what they do and how they react to the player. Plus, there is a lot more of them on the street at once."

Watch Dogs will be released November 22 on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U and PC. PS4 and Xbox One versions will be out around the time of the respective console launches.

This is completely false, you can't even spin the power differences this gen since they are both using similar hardware architecture. The PS4 is more powerful in regards to both GPU and Memory, and by a decent amount.

When I see multis games on both consoles, I will give my opinion. Power? memories? we will remember Ps3-360

Maybe in the beginning you won't notice a graphics difference but I think it will show later in the generation, and some PS4 exclusives will look much more impressive than Xbox One's games.

It's all subjective. "Comparable" in his view might mean something completely different in someone else's.

I think they mean comparable in the sense that they do not have to make any significant changes in the game or engine to make it run on both systems.

This is what I'm thinking.

People anticipating vastly superior visuals on PS4 are probably gonna be disappointed.

I think history has taught us that we should never really trust what comes out of a developer's mouth.

I'm sure another developer will say something completely contradictory to this.

I was about to make the exact same comment. And it is not even a indie dev with a $10 XBLA / PSN game.
