The people I know who paid for XBL, did so because of Halo,COD and FIFA.
Those are the games that justify paying for online to a lot of gamers,
I wont have to pay for online because i never played online that much. I only really played Fat Princess. I was thinking about getting PS Plus because of the deals but then we find out that multiplayer is now tied to it.
I like that the free to play games can be played without ps plus and i was wondering how online demos would be. I downloaded the Fat Princesd demo on ps3 and got hooked by the online portion and eventually wanted to purchase the game. I wonder if online demos can still be tried out without PS Plus

He's talking about people on forums, not the PS3 userbase as a whole.

I really don't agree. For you It's like only COD players that play online. If you want to play single player offline games on your PS4 go ahead! You don't need PS PLUS.

Oh! Well, that do makes more sense.
I'm not always going to be on PS+ so I'm disappointed that it's required to play online, but as a PS+ user, you get atleast five games a month, some of them being retail games for PS3 and Vita. It's a great service without the forced online requirement.
However, if you've only got a few games with online and you don't play those games online, then don't worry about it. It's not going to stop the sales of many of those games because people wouldn't play those games online in the first place. Atleast that's what it seems like your comment is coming across as.
Asynchronous online in will be free so you're not required to pay for PS+ for that. Games with single player leaderboards like the Arkham series or Mirror's Edge, Dragon's Dogma's pawn system, and I'd think Test Drive Unlimited 2 race creator and Infamous 2's level creator where you can download levels others have created. These things are asynchonous systems so if going by what Yoshida stated, then all of these should be free.
Other than F2P games, any game where you interact with another player online is going to require PS+. There are some games I have that I've played the online, but it's not a requirement for me. If I run out of PS+ and the free games don't interest me then I'm sure I can wait until some free games I want are available before signing back up. Although I will admit, out of the 32 games I own that have online I've put in a decent amount of time playing online multiplayer on 15 of those games. That includes co op on games like Resident Evil 5, Saints Row the Third, Sacred 2, Black Ops 2, Uncharted 2, Twisted Metal, Dead or Alive 5, Playstation All Stars, etc, so not just competitive games but co op as well.
Time will tell whether I don't have PS+ at the time and really want the service enough to pay for it. I'm not a fan of it though so unless I really want to play something online and I don't have PS+ for the games you get, then I'd rather stay offline and not pay if I can help it.
You are paying for PS+ you get great games for free as well as access to multi player etc. If you think this is bad for gamers then you are wrong. Live really offer nothing but profits for 360 and still people paid for it year after year.
I'm pretty sure they detailed that F2P options can be played without needing PS+. I'm sure if games chose to do a free multiplayer to such and such level it wouldn't be PS+ only.
Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

Live gives you free games that once you stop paying, you keep playing. If you stop playing for PS plus you don't keep playing your PS+ games.
Both models are bad for gaming, think about it before making absurds comparisons and derailing the thread.
