nothing in this world is really free.

That's not true.

well, unless your lucky enough to win something in a contest. Everything has it's price. Just like those free to play games, there not really free, unless you don't want to get any were with them.

By saying that nothing in this world is really free, you're implying that everything can be measured and given a "price", for whatever currency you want to use. That's not true. You can't measure the will of some people, for example.

If I was a sick and twisted person,I could most most definitly measure the will of some people. lol  I'm just going to agree to disagree with you. I'm getting off topic in this thread.

You can't, because you can't dominate all the people with strong will out there. So that means that not everything has a price, my friend.

1.- Assassin's Creed 2 needs Gold too?

2.- This is a new model for Live. So long, I'm not complaining. Not the best of the starts, but not bad either.

3.- But that's precisely what turns some people off. Keep on paying.

4.- That's cool for, let's say, The Cave or Vanquish. But try beating Demon's Souls or X-COM within days. You'll find yourself buying 3-months subscriptions or renewing another month if you want to finish it.

Here's the thing, the free games on Plus are a bonus, not the main attraction. If you are the kind that likes to play games for months if not years, you're probably also the type to buy them Day 1 anyway. You're not going to play each and every game that is free on Plus. 3-Months is more than enough time to beat any game and that includes Demon's Souls.

So what's the main attraction then? That you can play online?

"I will not support a system that"
"I will be buying a PS4" and supporting the exact system I claimed I wasn't.
As usual the Sony fan base that spent years trashing one console for something, goes out of their way to justify it when Sony does it.

I'm just thinking now....

360 - Paid online
PS3 - Free online

Xbone - Always online, full DRM
PS4 - Paid online

Xbone 2 - ?
PS5 Always online, full DRM

Yeah guys... Always online, full DRM confirmed to PS5

The console after the XBOX ONE isn't going to the the XBOX ONE 2, so XBone 2 doesn't work.

Anyhow, what is up next for the next XBox is elimination of physical disks completely, so that there will be ZERO tradining in of anything.  I would still say likely to have a Blu-Ray player in it, but won't play disk based games.  I would also say that they can also push for streaming everything and you keep renting the system to access Live to play anything and own no content.  In sure, Live Gold becomes what Playstation Plus is.

Could we stop arguing about whether ps+ games are free or not? Whether you believe they are or aren't "free" doesn't change what they are at all. It's just semantics.

However, given that the two consoles with the largest 3rd party support both have pay to play online, I don't believe it will hurt game sales that much. Sure, a few less games will be bought by people who only play 1 or 2 online games, but they usually don't play online anyway so that's not a lot. The majority of people, those who currently play online, have at least one game they still want to play so they will pay for online and be good for all games.

What's the main attraction on Xbox Live?

If you're going to complain about pay to play online, blame Microsoft. They did for 2 generations in a row and people paid for it. Sony doesn't think its a big deal because it really really isn't. Many of these next-gen games will run on dedicated servers and some are even merging single and multiplayer. Multiplayer is starting to become part of the game instead of just a seperate mode.

While most people probably wouldn't be able to beat Demon's Souls without help, I beat the game without having to get help one of the times I've replayed it.  The hardest boss in the game, in my opinion, is the flame beast boss.  I beat Dark Souls and never summoned any help.

Also X-Com doesn't have any online within the single player campaign.  There's an online multiplayer and it's only five different maps where you've got a point limit to create a team of up to six characters against the other player who can do the same.

You beat Demon's Souls within days?   I wasn't referring to having online, at all. That's why the other game I said was X-Com. I beat Dark Souls without help too, but not within days.

15 hours.  So maybe in a week.  There's a speed run of someone beating it in less than an hour.

The guys transferring from XBox 360 to PS4 won't have a problem with it.

Heavy online gamers are the least likely to transfer from Xbox 360 to Ps4.

They have no issues with internet daily check in, will stick with their existing Live ID and a more mature online system.

And as the OP mentioned, a more vibrant online community.

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

Already a ps+ subscriber, but I doubt I will use a majority of the features that they are starting to charge for on the next gen console... I wish there was an option to play online with out the bonus stuff for those who don't want/own ps+
