compare launch titles with launch titles. otherwise it makes no sense.
and just as example with forza, horizon is 720p and 30fps. forza 5 is 1080p and 60fps. you won't really recognize the difference of fps on a picture....
you should obviously post every game in the resolution it will be and not 600x400 pics of 1080p games.
you should not forget that something like reflections have to be seen in motion.
and we should maybe at least wait to see the final games which could look better or worse^^
If you believe that last gen's games actually look like the press shots used in your OP then...maybe..

MGS5 had me like, wow that never could be done on PS3 no matter how hard a dev tried.
A few games have. look at launch games for a gen and you could mistake a few of them for a late game of the gen before. Its always been the same.
Compare games like GOW 2 with PS3 launch games.
Compare games like GT2, Resident Evil 3. Spyro 3, to PS2 launch titles
Nothing new here
Nobody's perfect. I aint nobody!!!
Killzone 2. its not a fps. it a FIRST PERSON WAR SIMULATOR!!!! ..The true PLAYSTATION 3 launch date and market dominations is SEP 1st ![]()

It's from gameplay footage actually. Look it up on youtube
You should compare launch titles with launch titles.
the graphical leap isn't because the consoles are crap, or the devs are lazy, its because not only do GPUs advance but also the programs used to make games (Graphic engines/Physics Engine..etc) , for starters, Activision is using the same engine with CoD and EA doing that as well with Battlefield , and ND is sticking to their's as well, if it isn't broke you don't fix it, its better that a game runs better than have better graphics.

I agree that SNES to N64 is the biggest leap, but this one is pretty huge too. The realism in the biggest games so far (Second Son, Tom Clancy's Division) are incredible, especially when seen in a video reel.
I have to disagree with you OP. Gen 7 graphics were pretty strong, but Gen 8 is just another animal.
Debatable. I didn't like Halo 4's graphics. the lighting felt filtered and lacked the same diversity of colors found in Halo 3. I felt there wasn't a much difference at all, and prefer Halo 3 graphics. Only the guns look noticably better, but the environments actually look worse or copy and pasted more.
