I wanted a new Metorid too, and a new Starfox, and a new DKC but realistically Retro can only release a single game at once :P .
It makes more sense to develop a DKC sequel right now, since Nintendo and Retro are likely still learning how to work with a new hardware and with HD games in general. In fact, you can see a quite clear difference in graphic quality between 2013 games like DKC, SM3dW, Pikmin, etc. and 2014 titles like MK8, SSB, X.
DKC development can be considered like a training, for their next project Retro will have a better knowledge of the hardware and will be able to deliver something more ambitious.
For the moment, DKCR was fantastic game, better than Mario Galaxy imo, so even if this is more of the same I'm fine.
