Forums - Nintendo - Disgusted At The Fact That "Industry Professionals" Can't Wait To See Nintendo's "Demise"

Nintendo should go 3rd party simply because of the fact that they've apparently forgotten how to make decent hardware over the years. What's the point of awaiting the next Mario, Zelda, DK etc when the only box you can play them on sucks compared to its competitors?

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Lol @ not understanding the fundamental differences between IPs like Uncharted and Mario/Pokemon.

Explain the fundamental differences to him.

He's just being stubborn, he knows.

You got nothing.

You know what you have to say would be easily countered so you avoid saying it.

Nice try.

I don't see how this is new.

People have wanted Nintendo games since 1983.

People haven't wanted Nintendo consoles since 1995.

They want the games but not the consoles. Nothing new.

Speak for yourself.

"People", as in their fans, have wanted their consoles since day one. I would know, I am one, grew up with the NES. I like not only their games, but their consoles. I owned a PS1/2/3, but as secondary systems. Nintendo's system was always my first. This gen, I might not even got a secondary console, I'll just stick with Wii U.

But acting as if there's nothing wrong with people cheering for a longstanding company like Nintendo to fail, in some some naive frothing fanboy hope that they can "Finally play Mario and Zelda on their Playstation". It's pretty fucking dumb.

Make no mistake, that would be a very dark day for the industry, if all we had left was MS and Sony consoles. Personally, no thanks.

Sorry, but this entire thread stinks of fanboys coming up with completely bullshit reasons why Nintendo should "totally go third party". If they went third party, much like Sega, the quality and quantity of their games would go downhill. Companies that are under their umbrella, like HAL, might go under. Sony or MS fans sitting and wishing that Nintendo would "get out of the console business" is just about as petty and pathetic as if a Nintendo fan were to sit and say "Man I can't wait for Sony and MS to leave the console market, so that I can play God of War and Halo on my 3DS/Wii U." It's just the worst kind of fanboyism, pure and simple.

Mario is a much, much bigger franchise than Uncharted.

But for the sake of argument - yes, Sony might have been better off not making the PS3 and just focusing on really great games - except for the fact that there arguably wasn't a console that could support Uncharted 2/3.  Also, one of the key purposes of the PS3 was to drive Blu Ray as the standard, which succeeded.

Selfishly, from the perspective of a gamer, *somebody* has to produce consoles, but not everybody does.  I'd rather the company producing consoles be Sony, because Sony produces great consoles and some great games.  I'm not a fan of Nintendo's consoles, but I'm a huge fan of their games. I do not plan to buy a Wii U - but if there were a Mario or Zelda game on the PS4, I'd most definitely buy it.

Finally, I'm not talking about handhelds.  I don't follow them.  So I don't care if Nintendo produces handhelds.  Maybe they should, maybe they shouldn't - I'm not close enough to that part of the market to know or care.  I'm focused on home consoles for the purpose of this discussion.

This is not an anti-Nintendo argument for me.  I love Nintendo.  I've owned 4 out of their 6 home consoles.

Obviously you see how this argument cuts both ways, no?

they wish Nintendo to fail but they cant say this openly, so they invented nonsense like Nintendo to go 3rd party or the Nintendo of old was better and other nonsense (it was not, the Sega was then platform of choice Nintendo was slow, kiddy not mature enough etc.), but they're too transparent.
For them the demise of Nintendo as major force in gaming (as platform holder) is ultimate victory.

Nintendo put to shame anyone in the west in mid of 80's the entire western gaming industry was nothing but incompetent joke and remain so until Playstation era.

Look at sales of western 3rd party games on Nintendo platforms since NES and SNES they truly failed to compete with them.

Nintendo might have been better not making Wii and just focusing on games - except for the fact that there arguably wasn't another console that was going to launch with a fresh, new  controller interface. One of the purposes of the Wii was to povide a new experience and it succeeded in doing so.

I'd rather Nintendo continue producing consoles because they not only make great games, they make great hardware as well. That's right, they make great hardware. For most people on gaming forums, great hardware might just mean powerful but believe it or not, there are people who like that Nintendo offers something new hardware-wise every new gen (besides GC, that is). It's annoying that so many people seem to think it's somehow a bad thing that one of the three does something different.

No, they don't. They hate Nintendo's inability to embrace change, not Nintendo themselves or their games.

I would love if Nintendo did that to be honest. Their games are executed well for the most part, but getting their system is a hassle. I only want their games, and their third party offerings are continually....let's just say "not good", and it's been that way for a long time. Having no third party makes their console a one trick pony, and if they didn't have the risk of making a console, they could just worry about games, which could probably only enhance them, budget-wise, focus-wise or freedom-wise.

They invented the most crippled nonsense known to entertainment so called mature games, there is no such thing, the most successful games are hardly mature, or rather they're as mature as pornography is.

The content is truly inaccessible to children but not from intellectual point of view but due to sheer brutality.

This is appealing to mob, what intellectually demanding is in games like GTA, CoD or Uncharted well nothing remove brutality and you end with content accessible to any 7+ year old child.
