Forums - Microsoft - Microsoft can still trump Sony by...

-> Dropping the 24 hours check.

-> Not making the users pay for Gold to play online.

The used games would still be a turn-off to a lot of people, but they could overcome it (Microsoft, I mean) eventually.

I'm asking too much, but hey.

they can get most of their fanbase back if they remove mandatory game installs.

You are asking way to much

I don't find mandatory installs a dealbreaker. Yes, they're a pain in the arse, but I prefer them over the 24 hours check.

It is the dealbreaker, that is why there has to be DRM and restricting used games. No mandatory installs means no DRM basically

Well, that do makes sense.

They would also need to lower their price.

I know Im pretty good at that

I think it's important to remember that Microsoft probably doesn't really care about "winning" when it comes to total units sold, at least not like many of the fans. Microsoft is looking to maximize profit from the XO as a primary goal, and to transition it into an adjacent space. If that means dropping some gamer support, they'll likely take that as a trade-off.
