How's the Vita doing compared to the 3ds? Oh wait, that's not looking too good, is it?

There was a difference back then, PS2 and PS1 were already the leaders of those generations, and there were little to no alternate options to get games that were on those systems. Now, most PS3 games that are non-exclusive are generally available on 3 other platforms.

i'm expecting yr end ales of 9-13.5m ww for ps3, and 8-12 for 360.
it's very much possible with furthurr price drops. PS3 to top 110m ww before being discontinued.

The PS3 is the leader in most countries.
I think it's become clear in a world of selling consoles at a loss that simply selling the most units doesn't mean you've won the generation or even made a profit. Nintendo Won Gen 7 (or 6?) with the Wii. PS4 and XboxOne haven't launched and just because Sony is getting good press it doesn't mean they'll be number one at the end of Generation 8.

Nintendo made more profit than Sony during the GC/PS2 days. But no one will ever say that Nintendo won that generation.
The consoles sold is only one aspect of a generation. Making money is all that matters. The Wii may have 100 million units sold, but it also has an infamously low attach rate. The PS3 has a notably higher one than the 360, so Sony probably made more money than Microsoft this generation.
But then Nintendo made profit on hardware sales, so who knows if the PS3 or the Wii made more money. It's just definitely Microsoft in last.
PS3 will only beat the Wii in sales if it continues selling like it is right now for the next three years. Or atleast continues selling like it is right now with two very good holidays. After the PS4 and Xbox One come out, the PS3 will keep selling, but I doubt it'll sell the same numbers it's selling today. Probably half that.
The PS2 just stopped being produced though, so if it's the same thing with the PS3, then there's a chance for the PS3 to overtake the Wii. If the PS3 can atleast get 3.5 million a year for seven years then there's a chance. I think the Wii has a better chance at passing the PSX than the PS3 has at passing the WIi. I don't think either is going tot happen. While the Wii is close to beating the PSX, once the PS4 and Xbox One release, Nintendo might stop producing Wii consoles because thre's then three past gen consoles that are hurting the Wii U's sales.

Stop nitpicking, you know we're talking globally. I'm sure the console sales in Istanbul aren't going to help Sony much in making up that deficit between the PS3 and Wii.

If you want to talk globally then the PS3 is still outselling all other consoles by a fair margin.
