Yep. All comes down to Kinect, Having cameras, microphones and other sensory doofiggles doesn't come cheap.
Plus, the APU in the Xbox One is more expensive to produce due to the eSRAM taking up a massive amount of die area.

Both of those would probably outweigh the costs of the GDDR5 memory easily.

Also by MS price, it seems they probably is not taking a loss and the Kinect definitely contributing to the price as well. Also the complexity of MS APU probably cost more than Sony system.

Really? hmm I thought I had read something earlier about it not shipping with ps eye, but if it does I suppose that just makes it all the better deal.

Everyone says Kinect, but PS EYE comes bundled as well, and it is not $100 cheaper.  Also, I don't see any good reason for Sony to take a much larger loss than Microsoft, when the PS3 is already selling at a faster pace than the XBOX 360.  Something seems off here.

Essentially, the $399 SKU will be the SKU without PS Eye.

When you add on the extra PS Plus subs now too, from people wanting to play online, then its a very good plan. They may lose say, $50(?) on this console, but they will make that back with PS Plus subs and 1st party software.

$399 without PS Eye
$499 with PS Eye

Thats the way I see it.
