Forums - Sony - For those with your head in the sand (PS4 DRM)

No it isn't.  That's not logical.  That's just stupid.  That's why the Congressional Budget Office is useless.

Besides logically one must consider the source, what you are ignoring is the fact that corporations constantly mislead and misdirect.

They are like poltiicians.  They only fully tell the truth when being extremely direct, and answering every follow up question available.

Whenever there is wiggleroom they are concealing something, even if it's just a possibility to go that route.

To take PR statements at face value is... just silly, and you are better then that.

Or do you believe everything Obama is saying about the NSA scandal?  There is no proof available to not believe him.   Outside the fact that fact that his statements have been openended and evasive.

Corporations, polticians it's all the same, it's all about reading between the lines until someone gets them in a room and throughly grills them, or they put up or shut up.

I suggest you take a logic course then. If the argument is ambigous or a premise isn't explicitly specified then you must give it the benefit of the doubt and assume the best case scenarios of the argument is what is being said.

I'm calling it now, before E3. The PS4 is gonna be exactly the same as PS3. It is confirmed that the system works 100% offline, so its pretty obvious. Some games will have online passes etc., but that is for multiplayer only. Single player will remain the same, as will used games.

You do realise that half their sales come from the PS platform and so far DRM games have brought nothing but problems ?

Yes they would love to implement DRM but can they afford to jeopardise their sales for a practice that has been getting notoriously bad rep ?

Come on, you can't be so naive.

Gamers will buy the next CoD, Battlefield, Fifa, Resident Evil, Madden etc. no matter what. They donjeopardise anything.
Some vocal cyber che guevaras won't change that.

You do realise that CoD and Battlefield are actually competitors right ? Same for Fifa and PES.

ps. gamers didn't buy this Resident Evil mate !

the logical burden of proof is on the claimant to provide sufficient evidence. You should not accept a claim, good or bad, until it has been fully supported.

Why thank you, but I think you are still confused... What is the claim? The claim is Sony will have DRM... So yes, I agree... we should accept a claim until it has been fully supported... So please, anyone care to support this claim?

Then i'd suggest you retake a logic course then.... since you must not of understood what you took.  Or just never learned about trust.  Instead only hard science logic.  When this would be social science we're talking here.

I note you've completely ignored answering my questions that had examples... because you know i'm right.

The claim is the PS4 will have DRM.. not sure why you and some others instantly equate this to an attack on Sony and rush to the defense.

Because it's a blatant lie ?

Honors Logic 100% A+... pretty sure I understood it perfectly and if my logic book wasn't in Milwaukee I would turn to the page that talks about being generous to peoples arguments

Because you are wrong...

1. Both Sony and MS are investing heavily in cloud based technology. Sony is pursuing the streaming option with Gaikai and MS is investing in cloud computing

2. DRM. Its coming to both consoles and a LOT of it.  MS will do this through mandatory installs and online authentication while Sony will use their watermarked disc trademark. According to Giantbomb Activision, EA, and Ubisoft are demanding it on both consoles and neither MS nor Sony will tell them no. Those publishers are far too large to simply ignore

BTW that took me a whole 2 seconds to find and I can find dozens more in the same time period

What has this competition thing to do with this?

Battlefield 4 AND Call of Duty Ghosts will come with some kind of DRM on both consoles (Just like Fifa, Madden, Resident Evil etc). And the publishers don't jeopardise anything, because people will go out and buy their games anyway. That was my point. All those internet-boycott-talk is right out embarrissing and won't have any influence on the sales numbers.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...
