EA, Activision, UbiSoft and probably capcom will require to register your game online to block used sales or make money with it.

Sony will continue to implement online passes to get money from used game sales as well.

I am certain of that.

So tell me oh wise one, how can the implement an online registration if the ps4 has no internet connection? Hmmm...

The PS4 has no internet connection? Not sure if you got that one right.

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

* Unable to connect to EA servers *

This.

I'm clearly talking about ps4's on the individual level. No internet connection required. Sony never thought about implementing that.... You are telling me those games that need to register online will make more money to 3rd parties denying users the chance to buy it because they have no online connection and block used game purchase?  Absurd.

This.

So, nothing new.

So, what's going going on is that some xbox fans are actually acknowledging the fact that the whole online DRM is the plague but what they are doing is simply wishing their (gaming) neighbors catch it too !

That's not low at all.

It's DRM. And it's coming to PS4. Whether it's just from EA (what I think) or from multiple publishers (unlikely) is another case. There will be DRM.

Sonys first party games won't require an online connection.
There won't be a necessary log in every xx hours like MS have.

But they will leave it to 3rd party publishers to implement this. They will let them do that and Sony made this very clear. It even is in your OP.

any requirement for users to register a game online in order to play it would be left to game publishers.

Of course EA, UbiSoft, Activision and others will do this. You have to connect your PS4 to register those games and play them. If THEY want you to log in every xx hours, they will make you. It is just that Sony did not make this mandatory. The result will be mostly the same though. You have to log in to play the biggest games next gen.

You do realise that half their sales come from the PS platform and so far DRM games have brought nothing but problems ?

Yes they would love to implement DRM but can they afford to jeopardise their sales for a practice that has been getting notoriously bad rep ?

Leaving it to the publishers is effectively the same thing to me. I won't be surprised at all if all major third parties have some form of DRM, and Sony has online passes already.

Thanks for compiling all these quote. I would quite like being able to have the good part of M$ system, ie no need to put the disc in, but I guess this is better for all the consumers
