Forums - General - Teenager sent in jail for posting rap lyrics on Facebook

you can probably find 10000 rap songs where a rapper said "i will kill people in my neighborhood, my dad, teacher..." or anything like that. where is the difference if you say you will do something worse as the boston bombing or that you will kill a single person or a few guys? both times the guy would be a murderer if he would do it, there would be just more victims with something worse than boston bombing.

they should observe him if they really think he could be serious but sending him to jail just for saying it is?

they observe a lot of potential terrorist where they really know that those guys want to kill other people but they don't even know it here, it's all only about the shit he wrote.

Then they should arrest those people aswell in my opinion. It's about time these people learned some decency and respect and understand you can't just scream out anything you like just because ''it's a rap''.

you will also not go to jail for many years if you tell your neighbours that you will kill them. you know what they will tell the neighbours if they will go to the police "well, we can't do anything but we will speak with this person" and only if he would still say it after the police talked to him he would maybe get a little punishment.

€dit: maybe they will do more as i think but nothing like jail just for saying that to them on the phone or per e-mail.

Seriously people.

Just pretend for one moment you were in charge of the Boston bombing follow up investigations.

Would you want to be the one who ignored him?

Not ignoring =/= 20 year sentence. An in-depth investigation would have been much more reasonable.

you realize he is not sentenced, he didn't have his trial yet, you could even say a in debt investigation is going on...

Yeah, I knew he was sentenced yet. I thought you were agreeing that he should get 20 years, though.

You are wrong. The police would do more than just talk. If there is evidence that the person said he would kill them the person would be arrested.

To everyone suggesting this is against freedom of speech: Freedom of speech does NOT mean you can say whatever you want.
