Forums - Gaming - Something tells me MS is going to buy up key third party titles exclusivity for next gen

I can easily see Dead Rising 3 and Mirrors Edge 2 being exclusives, but definitely not Dragon Age 3. It'd be full retard on Bioware's part not to put that on PC. Playing those games with a gamepad is just awkward.

Hardly. They play just fine and sell 10X as much.

Publishers will sell out on PC versions for pocket change if someone is willing to hand the $$.

I think it's a very real possibility. A few online retailers have listed Mirrors Edge 2 and Dragon Age 3 (both EA published games) for the X1 but not for the PS4.

There's no way DA3 is Xbone exclusive, it will be on PC guaranteed. MS might buy console exclusivity and EA might accept it since the DA series had disappointing sales on PS3. I'll be a tad miffed if it avoids PS4, but I'll play it on PC if it does.

Mirror's Edge isn't a big enough IP to really be any concern in terms of moneyhatted exclusivity.

I think PC would get nixed before the PS4 version would. They would pull what happened with Alan Wake and get timed exclusivity to consoles if you're right though and then it comes to PC like a year later. You're right about Mirrors Edge though.

Never. DA sold way better on PC than PS3. MS would have to pay EA far too much to remove it from PC. It probably sold better on PC than on 360 even. And there would be major meltdowns from the PC crowd (well the DA fans on PC at least).

Well according to this site, the PC didnt outsell anything. No offense but next gen isnt really about what affects PC, they get what they get and will share multiplats as publishers feel suited to do so. This is an Ms topic so I'd kind of like to not talk about PC though. Send a message to me if you like.

Well this is about exclusivity to help drive Xbone sales, so taking games away from PC is a legit strategy to pad out its game library that can't be found anywhere else. It doesn't do as much to smack down PS4 sales potential as taking games away from PS4 directly, but it does balance out the massive difference between PS and Xbox in terms of absolute exclusives. So many Xbox exclusives are not true exclusives, and having more true exclusives gives Xbone a better value proposition.

This site has never had meaningful numbers for PC sales given PC has huge digital download sales. For instance, do you really thing MW3 only sold 1.5 million on PC? Almost 1/10th of what was sold on 360. Not a chance.

well, "exclusives" tend to only last a year when they are third party..

This.

Especially after playing Alan Wake on the PC I lost all trust in MS's ability to grasp the meaning of the term exclusive.

We know for sure that MS will pay for third party games to be timed exclusive.

But luckily, I don't think there will be many.

It's in the genome of MS to put all their focus on one key strategic product. They won't aquire exclusives spread on several niche genres. With their own studios they also focus on a few select big titles and they feel very confident about that strategy.

That's why I believe it will be Respawn's game, which is a logical choice to replace Gears, at least temporarily.

I wouldn't be surprised if Microsoft announce a Partner program for third party studios like they did for indies.

OMG I almost forgot about that! It would be huge if MS got exclusivity to the next Star Wars!

Key third party titles? As far as i know COD and FIFA still coming to PS4 and that is where they could have done some actual damage.

Some real damage done in the exclusivity war was in this gen, where gamers got used to the fact that 360 exclusives would come eventually to PS3 anyway.

And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I heard rumours of Mirror's Edge 2 being exclusive but i'm not so sure if EA would agree to exclusive games with Xbox, they would make so much more from multiplatform than with Microsoft money or second sale money on Xbox One. Also, i think Microsoft should just buy remedy studios

Isn't the next Respawn game published by EA exclusive to xbone. I think that is the game MS bought

Ain't that the truth.
This website tracks Diablo 3 at 3.10 million copies sold, when in-fact it's closer to 15 million copies sold on the PC, it's not a platform you should dismiss lightly in terms of games sales.

I can imagine them buying something. The rumors of an EA exclusive arent going away.

First things first - Dragon Age wont be exclusive, the PC fanbase is too big.

Now. One game I could imagine being exclusive would be Mirrors Edge 2.
