The average game should be around 25gb next gen, so yes. For now. Who installs 20 games? Some people go through a whole gen not even buying 20 games!! So for a majority of users, yes.

Seeing as this is a gaming website though and we'll all probably buy more than 20 games I voted yes for now.

Edit: Look at all the "no's"..... I'm betting most of those is just because it's Xbox. Prove me wrong and give me an answer.

You're forgetting the live capture and DVR features of the new consoles. Also Downloadable content.

We have a lot of DLC now, especially at the end of this gen. By the time the gen is over, you can buy external HDD's to plug into the USB 3.0 (which has been confirmed). I stand by my, "yes for now" answer. I also covered other things such as video in my other comment. Thanks for replying!

Don't get me wrong, for most users it will be more than enough. For me, I'd personally want a bit more. But yeah.. it won't be much of a problem for the majority since, (like what you said) you could always expand the space with an external HDD when running low.

Just no. My 500gb HD on the PS3 is almost full of PS+ shit. If you have to install the retail games too, which will be even bigger than PS3 games, it'll be full with 10 games or so!!

Game of the year 2017 so far:

5. Resident Evil VII
4. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
3. Uncharted: The Lost Legacy
2. Horizon Zero Dawn
1. Super Mario Odyssey

Its enough, not ideal though. Assuming the averge size of games rises to 20GB, seeing as 25 is now the standard across all next gen media including the wii u disc..

500/25= 20 games on the system before you have to start deleting things. But i assume the games install in the background if you're playing via disc, meaning there won't much hassle of having to redownload entire games before replay them.

Definitely enough though. Most people are unlikely to fill that amount of space in 3 years I'd say.

Its more than enough for xbox. 360 install sizes are sensible compared with the PS3.

But for PS3 and its dumb install sizes, no.

It's enough unless you want to download every game, which very few will want to do anyway.

Yes but i thought all Disc games were installed and therefore same size as download games?

Most installs are comparatively small aren't they? If they were the same size as the whole game Uncharted 2 would be like 40gbs

The problem with using PS3 game sizes as an example is that because the PS3 Bluray drive has slower seek speeds they put the same data in multiple places on the disc to increase the speed.  This results in replication of data in PS3 disk images which raises the size.  This will not be an issue for the PS4, Xbox One or Wii U as they all will be using newer drive technology which are faster.

I personally would have preferred 1TB but I can understand why they though 500GB was enough for the majority and the money saved is probably critical at launch.  I fully expect the HDD size to increase in the future as has happened with the PS3 this generation.

it is enough if you only play CoD

This is not enough. I filled my ps3 slim 250gb in less than two with plus. And that was before the good games. And then there were games installs, dlc, music and videos. And since games will rise in size (if they didn't what is the point of next gen other than switching fast between tv and games), expect this to be filled sooner than you think since ever game must be installed to play. I hope when they say you can use an external harddrive they are not talking about their on. And seeing how they could block things on 360 this could happen. Xbox one is definitely not something I think I will want for next few years.

Should be fine.

i think i read somewhere that DVR will not be a feature in Xbox One... do you have some kind of source were MS confirms Xbox One has DVR funcionality?

@op i have 500 Gb in my PS3 and i only have 63Gb of free space (no videos, or photos, only 8gbs for PS home, the rest is all games and demos, PS+ did a number on my Hdd)... note to self, delete demos and finished games... so my anwser is, not great but if you delete the games you have finished that don't have intentions of replay, 500 Gb will be enough IMO.

The problem is that the Xbone is meant to be able to play the games without the Blu-ray inside. So all the data from the BD must be installed into the HD.
