Forums - Gaming - How will the internet react when / if Sony announce DRM and pay to play online?

I'll be 100% PC gamer then. It's not a huge problem for me, I'll only miss out on a couple of interesting titles, and I love PC gaming already. Console gaming is just a nice addition to me.

I don't see pay-to-play online happening. Would this be only on PS4, or would they retroactively yank free online from the PS3 and Vita as well?

As long as Sony lets us play pre-owned games, I don't mind this but if its always online than Sony can kiss my ass too

Wii-U will be my console to get...

Nintendomination will happen, if Sony do that crap too its over for me and I hope Wii U wins.

But Sony have said and they have always said it, that they will never ever charge itd gamers too play there games online. I believe that Sony do actually try to satisfy there customers and meet there needs more than what Microsoft do. they listen to what there gamers want.

While I think most PS fans would understand Sony charging for their Gaikai and sharing services under a premium subscription, I'm fairly certain that many would probably be upset if Sony decides to charge for basic online multiplayer access, and I can see many either go to Nintendo or PC if that happens.

Sony let Microsoft blow the news first and get the backlash. The internet will be mildly upset when Sony announces it... but other then that I don't expect much to change.

I imagine in the end you'll find both systems identical in their DRM approach.

Don't think they'll have pay for online... but i'd bet on them having more or less the same DRM scheme.

Offcourse it will be totally justified if Sony does it. And all Sony would have to do is announce a new exclusive or something so its neatly swept under the rug :)

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Neogaf would implode.

As I said they won't sell it like this. They will include a bunch of "amazing features" sold in one psn+-package - included online-play. As it is with XBL now.
