Forums - Gaming - Why are people so quick to judge/make 8th gen decisions at this point?

Seriously, guys. We still have E3 coming up, and then 5 months from there until the Holiday Season. Any of the big 3 can throw a curveball and completely change the game. Microsoft can show fantastic games and clarify some statements, Sony can reveal a price tag that rivals (even beats?) Nintendo, and Two words for Nintendo: Super Smash.

So stop acting like idiots pretending that everything is set in stone.

Around the Network

Well this is the internet, where people over react to everything.

Because it sucks to wait. They want to talk NOW. And why would PS fans wait until E3 when they can trash Xbox One to their hearts content.

In the end, its about the freedom to troll and having fun in doing so. But those who legit have concerns over the major flaws have a right to speak their mind.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Because arguing is fun? Also: If something is presented it may as well be judged, it is not our problem if the presentations/launch/whatever happen to suck. All the more reasons to argue about it.

I don't think it's unfair to judge the Bone based on what we've seen so far. Of course it's not a full picture and there are still games to come at E3, but this is what Microsoft decided to show us. And they were originally going to show it a month ago but pushed it back to this month, so they had even more time to decide what to show.

And what they showed was... pretty bad. Nothing wrong with saying so.

because many are controlled by their feelings and hopes.

i would not even predict something after minimum the second holiday season. ps4 could sell much better as xbox one because they have obviously many more fans who go with the company since ps1 and will buy the console the first weeks after launch but that wouldn't mean that xbox couldn't sell much better in the second or third year if people would start to like what xbox will have to offer (which can also change drastically after the years)

and people should still not believe that nintendo already lost. it will be hard for them but if they will have a successful relaunch (i think they will do something like that) they could still be very successful.

or microsoft will have a crazy start because the mass market will love xbox one even for a high price and after a year they will all lose the interest. who knows...

probably the reason why i never really make predictions on vgchartz, video game market is just too unpredictable to make serious predictions. all the predictions of the analysts before this gen are a good example. they all failed hard.

We do what we always do - discuss anything game and console-related. And there is literally nothing bigger than the release/announcement of consoles. Of course we are going to discuss every single aspect of all consoles. Of course we will speculate to fill in the gaps that the console makers havent yet addressed.

You already know this. I dont really see where you are going with this thread.

MS: They screwed up. I don't agree with all criticism and I do, in fact, think it has a good chance of doing pretty well, but it has some serious issues no (consumer) can argue about. At best, you can argue whether those issues are big enough but obviously many seem to think they are.

Nintendo: The Wii U hasn't been doing well and it doesn't seem to be having any killer games coming from third parties and considering Nintendo's history with third parties, I doubt it will, either. That said, their situation will probably improve somewhat thanks to their first-party games but at the same time, competition will get fiercer. Overall, Nintendo's future isn't looking too bright.

As for Sony... Well, they haven't screwed up anything yet. That said, they haven't said much, either, so there's still plenty of time for screwing up things, and their talks about used games haven't been exactly positive so there's some reason for cynicism.

Exactly. People can only make decisions based on the best information they have available. There's no point in reserving judgement, staying silent and hoping that initial impressions are wrong. Especially if all the given information is subject to change before launch. If people throw a riot now, it gives Microsoft a chance to address those potential customers' concerns.

Judgement isn't set in stone either, and can be re-evaluated as new information comes to light.

I'm actually open to owning any eighth-gen system, mainly based on exclusive titles. I have more money to spend this-gen than ever before, so while I'm at it I might as well get a decent PC that can run next-gen level games to some degree.

Things I want from each platform -
Wii U - X (sequel/successor to my second favorite game)
PS4 - Jak 4 (at this point I don't care who develops it, as long as it happens)
Xbox One - Crackdown 3 (actually seems to be happening, but I must know if it's good first... still the only Microsoft franchise that I'm particularly interested in unless Halo continues its trend of improvement and Fable magically delivers on its promises)
