Forums - Gaming - Will there ever be another casual Centric Console again, like the Wii?

I don't see the Xbone filling the gap, not at the price it will probably be sold at (~500$ since Kinect2 is bundled).

I think it's going to start out as a luxury item, and be priced down. It actually has the same form factor as a new video-playback system (DVD -> Bluray -> One). It's shaped like a utility device, not like a gaming machine, which is the way to go.

I won't make predictions on its sales, but I think IF my prediction for the price is correct, they should drop it ASAP after the launch. If people really will see it as a utility device the price is not competitive. Not many people will pay 500$ for what they might percept as a BluRay player with a glorified TV overlay...

With seamless integration to the cloud? It's basically like an ipadified TV and console. Pretty value-add to me. If people are willing to spend 400$ for an ipad, why not for an computer-aided TV/console?

Perception. But this whole argument is moot atm since we have no idea how actual customers percept the Xbone.

I disagree. If the showcase wasn't enough to demonstrate Microsoft's vision I think we're at a lack of foresight.

What Microsoft envisions isn't necessarily what the customers percept. For example, if customers find the the TV gesture control as unneccesary as many gamers they most definately won't drop 500$ on the console, especially if gaming isn't their main focus. But like I said, since we don't know what that crowd thinks at all atm arguing over it is basically useless^^

As I said, it was all in the demo, so we have a lot to go with. If you don't see the value in the information we got as food enough for thought I can't help it.
