Forums - Microsoft - MS will win Next Gen

I think it's much too early to call who will win next-gen or not. The first XBox was a media powerhouse as well, and it didn't exactly shatter the skies. While this one may have that conversation piece thing going for it, these are things that Sony can achieve as well in time - because seriously, voice recognition isn't something that terribly complex to achieve -, same with user interface. Don't forget consoles mature over time, gaining new functions and shading old.

Who will win will be determined 3-4 years from now, and not even then if this generation is any indication. The Kinect may be huge now and it may keep on being huge, but so was the Wii after all and look at it now.

Save your "Y or X is gonna win" for after you've seen more than an hour of press conference of each device. After all, the PS3 was supposed to be a shoe-in for top dog this generation, no? Markets change, user demands too and all we know is that we'll always want to play games.

Depends on how MS does this TV thing in other countries. In the US it could sell a huge amount because it represents a better value console than its competition since they are advertising it as a box that can do everything. They will probably also have TV deals in the UK and Canada, but in the rest of the world they may face a hard time competing against the PS4. We'll just have to see.

Xbox will win unless Apple decides to spoil their party.

When you consider PS4 and Xbox 360 will have 90% same games again with exclusives being the only differentiator, however the Xbox One will offer a slew of other features, the competition really isn't going to last long at the same price point. Console fanboys can account for about ~1 million in sales max, and after that it will be about games, wider mass market appeal and features. Xbox One should easily win 2 out of 3 there.

Some of the posts in this thread...wow, talk about being delusional. PS4 will have 160 million console based on core game exclusives? Makes total sense...

The number one complaint againt Microsoft for the longest time has been the lack of exclusive games. Exclusives are rather important and drive people towards one console or another. The features Microsoft is offering are laregely unimportant to real gamers and casuals already have ways of watching tv or looking at fantasy fooball lol.

If what you just wrote is the midset of "gamers", they are going to get a rude awakening for the second gen in row. They really aren't as important to consoles sales as they think they are. I mean Wii is universally disliked by the gaming community and yet it sold gangbusters on a very limited set of unique features.

Core gaming can push console sales to 30, maybe 40 million these days when you consider that smartphones, tablets, PCs are all eating gaming console's lunch. If you want to sell 100 million+ you need to do a hell of a lot more things than just offer great core games and exclusives.

The thing which people here don't seam to realize is that Xbox One will do gaming as good as PS4, they just decided to talk about other features and aspects today which they believe will drive sales more than showcasing a few game demos to kids who will buy their consoles anyways when the first Halo or Call of Duty game comes out.

Just because MS is trying to appeal to a wider audience doesnt mean it will successfully do that.

People expect games consoles to wow and amaze with gaming features ie. Wii. Not with advanced TV integration.

And who is to say they wont? When you consider that multiplats are hitting both consoles and PC, and compose 90% of a systems library how are you even arguing that what microsoft is talking about here is a bad thing? We already know it does gaming, and that it will get the exact same library as PS4 on top of 4-5 solid  AAA exclusives every year from Microsoft studios and countless other Xbox live gems.

Are you guys saying that Sony is going to win next gen because their 6 AAA exclusives will trump microsofts 4? I don't know how anyone can call me delusional if that is what they are thinking...

Xbox will easily win next gen in North America and UK looking at the system interface, capability, TV features and Kinect 2.0 alone. Success in other markets comes down to their ability to offer these services outside English speaking countries.

I didnt say they won't.

You were the one to say Xbox will win. I'm simply saying that its too early to call. Both reveals didnt prove to be that great. MS came of worse. Yet you already saying they will win? Whose to say people like the shown features?  US, UK nobody cares....a gamer is a gamer they care primarily about games. And until MS actually expands their market like the Wii did its still competing over the same gamers.

And who is "you guys"? You are delusional because you seem to already declare a winner based on almost nothing.

My viewpoint is clear: neither Sony nor MS have a clear victory based on what we have seen so far. All evidence points to this being a even matchup similar to last gen minus nintendo. To say anything else at this point is delusional imo.

Edit: Second bolded, i did not say it was a bad thing...its just not a good indication of a decisive and clear victory for the next generation. I actually thought this would be obvious to most. Definitely a selling point but not a game changer like the Wii.

Intel Core i7 3770K [3.5GHz]|MSI Big Bang Z77 Mpower|Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1866 2 x 4GB|MSI GeForce GTX 560 ti Twin Frozr 2|OCZ Vertex 4 128GB|Corsair HX750|Cooler Master CM 690II Advanced|

Only the uniformed will be supporting this console. The xbox one is anti consumer at it's core. That's their DNA, not games. From talking to my friends over the past few hours about the new xbox, it seems everyone has deiced against it. I may not be a MS fan but at least i bought the 360 last gen, I wont be giving it a second look. Put a fork in it, it's done.

And you can already claim that? That is as far-fetched right now as the 160m PS4 prediction. And calling others delusional? Hypocrisy your name is disolitude.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

I think it's time for "MS fans are getting overconfident" thread.

Well I can't tell to be honest since I wasn't intrested in the xbox reveal and didn't watch it, will check the significant info soon and then will elaborate on my point of view.

Its actually overdue for a PS overconfident thread. But hey, IMO.

It was just supposed to be a jab at the prievous "Sony fans are getting overconfident" threads didn't read all the posts here to be honest :P

But well from what people on the internetz say it was dissapointing so well ;-/ nothing you can do.

Its weird nobody is seeing this conference for what it is: Getting the non gaming content and COD stuff out of the way so E3 is extremely game focused. Not to mention the console itself was actually shown, the true meaning of a console reveal :P

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

I am going to get it instead of the PS4. Nothing will ever replace my Wii U but it will be a pretty sweet 2nd console

No.  What this conference was is Microsoft showing their new device to the world.  You don't introduce a new device by showing off what you consider it's non-essential features.  This is how Microsoft is positioning their console.  This is their sales pitch.  This is how they want the world to see the XBox one.

Stop trying to kid yourself with the notion that Microsoft is going to be focussed on games at E3.  They haven't been focused on games at E3 since 2009.

Why hven't they been focused on games since 2009? Because half of it is spent talking about features......things they just got out of the way. Ever considered a 2 conference approach, one geared towards features and one geared towards games?

This one got the word out to the masses on what it can do. E3 will get the word out to the gamers. Again, its 2 weeks apart. 2 weeks. Seriously.

No.  That isn't how it works.  You don't reveal a product by "getting things out of the way".  You reveal a product by showing off its most important features.  If they thought gaming was its most important feature, they would have led with that.
