Forums - Microsoft - MS will win Next Gen

I expect Nintendo to win Japan, Microsoft to win America, and Sony to win Europe.

Which means that we're one step closer to the home console industry's Orwellian future.

Xbox will win unless Apple decides to spoil their party.

When you consider PS4 and Xbox 360 will have 90% same games again with exclusives being the only differentiator, however the Xbox One will offer a slew of other features, the competition really isn't going to last long at the same price point. Console fanboys can account for about ~1 million in sales max, and after that it will be about games, wider mass market appeal and features. Xbox One should easily win 2 out of 3 there.

Some of the posts in this thread...wow, talk about being delusional. PS4 will have 160 million console based on core game exclusives? Makes total sense...

The number one complaint againt Microsoft for the longest time has been the lack of exclusive games. Exclusives are rather important and drive people towards one console or another. The features Microsoft is offering are laregely unimportant to real gamers and casuals already have ways of watching tv or looking at fantasy fooball lol.

If what you just wrote is the midset of "gamers", they are going to get a rude awakening for the second gen in row. They really aren't as important to consoles sales as they think they are. I mean Wii is universally disliked by the gaming community and yet it sold gangbusters on a very limited set of unique features.

Core gaming can push console sales to 30, maybe 40 million these days when you consider that smartphones, tablets, PCs are all eating gaming console's lunch. If you want to sell 100 million+ you need to do a hell of a lot more things than just offer great core games and exclusives.

The thing which people here don't seam to realize is that Xbox One will do gaming as good as PS4, they just decided to talk about other features and aspects today which they believe will drive sales more than showcasing a few game demos to kids who will buy their consoles anyways when the first Halo or Call of Duty game comes out.

Most comments have been reasonable and seems to be similar to general consensus on the web.

that 160 million comment was silly...we all know that.

The fact that you already declare Xbox a "winner" is more delusional imo. Both reveals were lacklustre. Gamers hands down did not like the xbox1 reveal. PS4 reveal was early and they did not show the console. What are you basing your Xbox will win comment on? People said similar things about the original Kinect...and well PS3 is about to outship the 360 WW.

Until MS prove otherwise the Xbox is still meant to be sold to gamers.

Neither console has a killer feature at this point thats gonna do what the Wii did. Its gonna be all about price, games, exclusives, availability, bundles etc. pretty much the same as this gen.

Just because MS is trying to appeal to a wider audience doesnt mean it will successfully do that.

People expect games consoles to wow and amaze with gaming features ie. Wii. Not with advanced TV integration.

It will finish third but will be successful.

Early adopters are what make consoles start off with a bang, and early adopters are the people who pave the road for what's to come. Casuals have no sense of what will be good or won't, they follow what is trendy. The company that secures the hardcore gamers will be in a wonderful place because it will have gained the trust of the most passionate consumers in the industry.

A company winning because they cater to casuals instead of the core is such an empty thing to real gamers.I have no idea why people actuall WANT for this to happen. As a real gamer instead of a stock holder, I will always give my vote to the company that has my needs at mind.

There is no arguing with the people who think like stock holders instead of gamers, they are sad people.

To anyone defending this...product. Knock yourselves out, you deserve it.

And who is to say they wont? When you consider that multiplats are hitting both consoles and PC, and compose 90% of a systems library how are you even arguing that what microsoft is talking about here is a bad thing? We already know it does gaming, and that it will get the exact same library as PS4 on top of 4-5 solid  AAA exclusives every year from Microsoft studios and countless other Xbox live gems.

Are you guys saying that Sony is going to win next gen because their 6 AAA exclusives will trump microsofts 4? I don't know how anyone can call me delusional if that is what they are thinking...

Xbox will easily win next gen in North America and UK looking at the system interface, capability, TV features and Kinect 2.0 alone. Success in other markets comes down to their ability to offer these services outside English speaking countries.

If Sony plays the "oh hey look you can't lend your games to your friends, we are the true gamers console because we don't charge for online service nor do we charge you for lending games". card, they will win.

I need to know Sony's full intentions and if that is confirmed....MS has lost me and my XBL subscription.
