No. Or not entirely.

There are two schools of thought when it comes to video game design who for a lack of proper name I shall refer to as realists and abstractionists.

The goal of the realist is to make everything as realistic as possible in order to immerse a player. Realistic graphics, realistic physics, and increasingly more realistic controls.

The goal of the abstractionist is to make everything as fantastical as possible in order to provide the best entertainment experience. Characters deflecting bullets with 100-pound swords, laser-firing robot dinosaurs, and increasingly more abstract controls.

To that end, the abstractionist wouldn't touch motion controls because it would make the more fantastical elements harder to implement, while the realist would embrace it because it's closer to the reality they're trying to portray.

I believe in honesty, civility, generosity, practicality, and impartiality.

usually, Kinect and PS move games are ignored by the "core gamers". Wii is said to be a console that doesnt attract the core as well because of its motion controlls. but the question is, will all that ever change? will there be a time where the regular and frequent gamers like our selfs be genuinely interested in motion control gaming?

also lets not act like moton controls do appeal to the core, MS and sony us the kinect and move to appeal to a wider audince, basically the "casuals". so lets not make the thread about whether or not the core audince already like motion controls.

Uhm....they do actually.

I enjoy playing some motion controlled games, as do many of my friends who are core gamers. They can be a lot of fun when you're playing with a group of people. This notion that core gamers can't possibly like motion controls is just absurd

Yes they can!

Just imagine a proper light saber game with M+ or Sixense.

People seem to forget that core gamers were pretty optimistic about this stuff during the Wii early years. But then the content never came, and industry propaganda and the content that was there hammered the terms 'motion controls' and 'casual' together.

Zelda SS had the chance to change that, but Aonuma's incompetence ruined it.

I agree with this, but it was more than just content the controller itself, was terribly inaccurate so it didnt even deliver on its promise, and you kinda need accuracy if we are talking "core" games or you could simply take the Mario Galaxy route and just have the motion controls be a very small part of the experience but then thats kind of a moot point.

M+ and sixense are accurate enough I think, that given the right talent and resources, could be used for amazing games. Standard Wiimotes, not so much.

thats my point had those have been there from the jump i think it would have been received better all around, they werent and i think some people just said screw it by the time those came out and motion+ got atrocious support, worst than move or kinect

Maybe in quantity, but not in quality.

Neither are Kinect and Move though. I'd still contend that neither device had a game in the league of Skyward Sword.

Killzone, Portal 2, Bioshock Infinite, Resistance, Infamous 2, thats of the top of my head, Really? The Move is getting support still and motion + hasnt for a while. Thats a fact. Skyward Sword is overrated probably the worst of the 3d Zeldas, i would place Portal 2 and Bioshock above it easily Kinect doesnt really do 'core' gaming so you got me there.

As has been pointed out above, motion controls will only be accepted by the core gamer when the input is responsive and accurate across the board. A few games have, for my mind, already achieved this but mostly in spite of the technology rather than because of it.

I haven't had  a chance to play Bioshock Infinite yet, (I really want to, I adore the first one) but I'd say Skyward Sword is easily better than Killzone 3, Resistance 3, Infamous 2, or Portal 2.
