Mario Kart and 3D Mario would be ideal I suppose.

This kinda reminds me of the 3DS plan o.o

Didnt they release 3D Land and MK7 in the same year?

I think that's exactly what Nintendo wants to do. "It worked for the 3DS, why not Wii U?" is what they might be thinking.

They didn't only have Mario Kart and 3D Land though ;o. Another 30-40% price cut combined with those games might do it

I see no need for a price drop.

3DS released way over the price of previous nintendo handhelds.

$250 - $300 is always a good home console launch price.

Ya but outside of those 2 games, OoT, Star Fox there wasnt many games during the holidays. Wii U has Pikmin, Luigi U, Wind Waker, Wii Party, W101, Splinter Cell, Rayman, Watch Dogs, AC4, COD, Skylanders, Disney Infinity, and I think Mario Kart all from Aug-end of the year so it might not need a price cut although I think its very possible it will.

Pikmin is launching pretty soon, not during the holidays.Same with W101. Luigi U is glorified DLC - I don't think that will do much if anything. Is Wii Party confirmed?

Even with all those games it will need a price cut just to combat the launches of the other consoles.

I know alot of those games arent releasing near the holidays but people buying a console during that time will see all those titles on shelves and that could sway them in Wii Us favor. Also they dont necessarily need a price cut, with black friday/holiday deals and bundles it very likely u can get a Wii U for $250-300 with a good game while the new consoles will launch at probably $400 or more.

Luigi U is getting a retail release and at $30 so I could see it selling pretty well and it actually interests me more than NSMBU and I think alot of pwople feel the same.

@Pezus:
Heh, I'd be fine with any meat really, just as long as I get sandwhich when I eventually pick up a Wii U. ^_^
Also, I'ma have to agree a price cut would probably be a good idea. Two new systems are comming out afterall. A significant price difference should give the Wii U a nice edge over them.

As long as "before E3" doesn't mean the day before...

The "pre-E3" Direct will probably be on Sunday night (June 9th) or else Monday morning (June 10th) before all the others have their main press conferences (Sony, Microsoft, Ubisoft, EA). E3 technically doesn't start until Tuesday June 11th. Nintendo is having a meeting with the press and media outlets on Tuesday morning to demo the games they'll have on the show-floor for the first time, followed almost immediately by a closed-door retail/investor's business meeting where they'll probably talk about sales projections, momentum, release dates, and marketing plans for Wii U and 3DS through the holidays. They could possibly have their big Wii U Direct right before the press and media event on Tuesday morning, but I think they'd be better off doing it a day or two before. I also expect a 3DS and/or Pokemon related Direct on Tuesday or Wednesday evening, kind of like the 3DS software showcase they had last year on Wednesday.

While I don't believe the rumor that listed half a dozen Nintendo Directs and a dozen Iwata Asks interviews, I DO think it would be really awesome if they had Chotto (Mini) Directs for some of the BIG games that are revealed to be coming this fall. Just 5-10 minute Directs showing footage and maybe even demos of the games would be great and they could space them out with 1 or 2 each day of E3 to keep people coming back and checking up to see what they're showing next.

Finally, I just have to say this-Super Smash Bros. 4 is NOT coming this year. I make my prediction now: Holiday 2014 is the target release date for that, and it COULD even slip into 2015 if Sakurai wants more time to polish and cram even more content into it. Seriously people, just focus on the games which actually COULD come this year, or which are already CONFIRMED to come this year: Pikmin 3, Wii Fit U, Wii U Party, The Wonderful 101, 3D Mario, Mario Kart U, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD, and maybe even Retro Studios' big mystery title.

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Finally the things people care about from Nintendo, Mario. Add some Starfox, Metroid and Donkey Kong to that and we've got a winner.

I think WiiU's current sales should be some small hint of it being too expensive for most people. Don't get me wrong, games will surely boost it, but will it be a sustained and big enough of a boost without the price cut?

I agree price is a factor but obviously games and marketing are the bigger reasons. I hope it does get a price cut tho, id be super happy if I could pick up a Wii U with Pikmin 3+Wind Waker for $300 on black friday

I really can't wait to see what they're cooking for the next 3D Mario. Super Mario Galaxy is my favourite Mario game of all time, and most certainly my favourite platforming game ever.

So yes, I'm really hyped about it!

I don't own a Wii U yet, but if they can get their shit together with their core franchises (to me, those are 3D Mario, Zelda, Starfox and Metroid) then I'll be a happy Wii U owner soon enough.

It might also put them out of business...
