Los Angeles is GMT-8 and Europe is GMT+1 so it's 9 hours more => 16:00h.

Yes, correct. The other conferences tend to be a couple hours later. Sony's is the day before though (I think).

So, it pretty much "is" a conference at a normal "conference" time. But they just aren't calling it that because they're too cool.

Sorry, I got confused with the dates. Microsoft/Sony/3rd parties are holding their on the 10th it seems, so Nintendo comes after and just before E3 actually opens to journalists.

That's kind of inconvenient since I would need to take the entire day off...
